my nexia :)

Introduction

i have decided i am going all out on the nexia, and will make her a fiat beater ;). at the moment she a 1.5 sohc engine, but i am looking for a 2 litre redtop engine to drop in her. i have so far done a gsr style kind of induction kit, meshed the grille and lower bumper opening, put in some speakers in doors and parcel shelf. icv also debadged her. this weekend im replacing the brake pipes and fuel pipes on her. i plan to lower her, alloys, tune the redtop to the max, exhaust with maybe a decat system, and tints. also il be doing some weight reduction.
its only a 1.5, not sure if engine is from any other cars though, i don't really know anything on this engine to be honest, as daewoos and there woners are pretty rare!! the daewoo forum is very quiet compared to this!
oh yeah another mod im planning, is the air intake at the back, im going to put a bonnet scoop above it, iv seen someone else do it on this car in europe, and it looks amazing!

to be fair, most people buying a daewoo are buying it because its a car and its cheap
not really the type to have enthusiastic owners

very true!! on ebay they go for often under a hundred pounds, and they are runners and everything. its something unusual, and it does sort of turn heads sometimes, as not many people would recognise it.

haha, this could end up being quite an amusing car.. Although you mention nothing about brakes, please don't drive your redtop daewoo on standard brakes behind my car lol

haha, well my brakes are just drum all rounds at the moment, but, all the brake lines under the car are being replaced on her, as she failed its mot on that. tbey were just rust-literally!! so when i do that, im upgrading the front drums to discs, and will probably get larger drums for the back. that will be fine i reckon....wont it?

could you tell me where that engine is from? is it a 1.4 or 1.6? thats handy, as its another source for parts, and spares

IIRC its the family 2 engine range

[ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Family_II_engine[/ame]

VX used it for years and just gradually upgraded it
so back in the Mk2 cavalier/Mk1/2 astras/novas it was in various guises

so the cav had a 1.4,1.6 and 1.8(an overbored 1.6)
then later a 2.0
all use the same mounts

so you can find that family of engines from novas(well earlier too) right up to Vectras i believe
the image shows a Mk3 cavalier, the 1.8 is a fairly popular engine in them
early mk3's had a 1.4 available but it was phased ou for the 1.6

the fronts wont be drums
the fronts will be discs,so standard disc upgrades to the front
the rears i would want a disc conversion if you are going red top or the like
the early VX 2.0 non red top 16V still put out 130 BHP standard

il check again, as i havent looked at brakes in long time, but i was sure they were drums, il have a look tonight and let u no. itl be a hell of a lot easier if they were discs, i hope they are :)
thanks for the engine info, one other question i have. the 2 engine for the nexia was the one i have, and a twin cam version of the same engine.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Daewoo-Nexia-...CarParts_SM&hash=item414f4be229#ht_3307wt_999 heres the twin cam version.

would i be looking at a whole engine swap if i wanted to make mine a twin cam? im not sure what would need to be done there. id ask on daewoo forum, but not many people on there, and here you can always get answers :).

@noshercentro mines not boring!!! but i agree, a redrop will make her alot more interesting :p

its ok cheers anyway. thereas a twin cam head in a nexia at breakers near me. i might get it if its cheap enough, and see if it will fit on the single cam block.
will a 16v head on an 8v head cause any problems?

i was just lookjng out of interest at a swap, and the cam belt is the same for both single and twin cam versions. theres no difference as one will fit on either. i dont know if that means anything.
im looking to see if the head gaskets match up on both versions to now
