Which Fiats have you owned?

They're only the fiats I've had.

Also had a
2005(05) focus edge 1.8tdci 3dr Colorado red
2010(10) fiesta 1.4 zetec 3dr vision blue
2011(60) fiesta 1.6 s1600 imperial blue
2014(14) focus 1.0 ecoboost zetec s deep impact blue (awesome car remapped to 155bhp- this is my daily driver at the moment)

Working for a fiat/ ford dealer is lethal with staff deals lol

I see, lol! At least you've had far more Fiats than fords, which is the way it should be, lol!! ;)

6 x 80's fords, and FIAT's ever since..:D

3 x french cars too:yuck:

I'm 24, and my 1st car was a Daewoo, then I traded that in for a Fiat, then in turn, I traded that in for another Fiat, lol!

I don't mind some French cars. Some of the Pininfarina styled Peugeots were nice, as well as the occasional Renault and Citroen. I quite like the recently launched mk3 Twingo, for example.

I had a 205 1.1 petrol,
and 2 x early clio's a 1.0 and a 1.4 auto

stupidly the 205 was really sought after.., we had it 2 weeks and hated it..!!

made good money on it though.

My parents have got an old mk2 Clio. Its a fairly lowly model, but it's still a nice little car. The new Clios, like the current shape fiesta, are absolute eyesores!!

Something that strikes me from my time on this forum is that Fiats have a relatively small, but incredibly passionate following in the UK. :)

Not only in the UK....

F abrica I nternazionale A utomobili di T orino is one of the largest car companys in the world, with plants all over the globe, and they dated back more than 100 years....!!!

What I meant is that a lot of people in this country are retarded enough to think Fiats are a joke, and buy crappy fords instead, but I was surprised by how many of us actually realise how good Fiats are.

I had 2 x ford fiesta mk1's ( same mechanics as 90's KA's :D)

and 2 x Cortina's ( pinto engined)

before I realised my girlfriends 127 was a better car, but worth half as much in the UK.

127 was THE car copied by FORD for the fiesta ;)

Pinto was the kit-car builders engine of choice, unless you wanted performance.. when you fitted the Lampredi TwinCam (y)

gave up with FORD when they adopted inferior Japanese ( Mazda) technology,

Charlie

I do think that fords are seriously overrated.

I wouldn't say Fords are overrated cars at all. They build some decent cars bar the current KA and Eco sport.

Also, I would say that if you haven't owned one or spent time driving one, it's not really a valid comment.

VAG cars are definitely overrated though.

Fiat have been underrated in some respects, but currently the only decent model seems to be the 500X which has had good reviews.

The GP when it was launched was a fairly competitive car, but it's to old now and all its competitors are much newer and better.

VAG cars are - I've driven:

Polo 1.23cyl S
Golf MKIV 1.6fsi and 1.68v
Passat 2.0tdi DSG
Skoda Octavia 2 1.9tdi PD
Audi A3 2.0tsi cabriolet
Audi A1 1.6tdi
Audi A4 current 2.0tdi 185 DSG S Line
Audi A4 2.0i previous model

That's what I remember off the top of my head. I have driven them all for distances and not spins round the block.

The build is not what you think it would be, with VAG its perceived quality than actual quality. They also trade on the fact back in the 80's and 90's they were very reliable, nowadays they come low in reliability and dealers. The thing is with the UK people like badges doesn't matter what the car is like though.

Having a read through the Skoda MK3 and Golf MK7 forums makes interesting reading of faults and failures.

That's kinda what I'm getting at when I say about fords: people are quick to say the Punto is outdated, yet ford produced the mk1 ka for 12 years, and that was a far, far worse design than the Punto. I don't think they even had a passenger airbag as standard at any point, for example! People on here also say about the 1.2 8v 'FIRE' engine being well past its sell by date, yet that's still a perfectly good engine. Its not horribly noisy and thirsty like the old ford 1.3.

This is what I mean when I say about fords being overrated. They can make any old tat, and it will sell in vast numbers, purely because it has a blue oval on the front.

As for VAG products, I wouldn't buy any of those either. I do like the current Polo, but I wouldn't buy 1 purely because they are so horrendously overpriced.

The KA when it was launched was a game changing car. Ford took a fiesta chopped it down and created a modern successor to the mini. Bear in mind the original KA was launched in 1996.

It was an amazing drive, I always remember reading in top gear an article when it first came out about how good it was.

Granted it was launched with the old endura-e engine which could trace its roots back to the 50's, however it was torquey from low revs giving it a nippy feeling.

I remember many years ago in a courtesy car one a MK2 Punto Sporting simply could not keep up with it at all. The drive of it was very very good.

Yes it wouldn't have a passenger air bag, not many cars did when it was launched, only becoming standard fit at the end of production.

I would urge you if you ever get the chance to drive a MK1 KA before they rust.

Also, when the 1.3 was upgraded to the Duratec 69bhp, the engine become very smooth and was a good performer.

The current KA can not hold a candle to the old one, and this one is the end of the tie up between the two companies.

A friend of mine has driven a mk1 ka, and it was so bad, he actually preferred the ancient, poverty spec, diesel Citroen Saxo he had at the time.

With regards to the Krap 1.3 engine providing nippy performance, that is something you slate the 1.4 8v Grande for, yet the official figures say the Grande Punto is quicker, and I do find mine to be a genuinely nippy, great to drive, means of getting about.
