I saw this the other day, and thought I was quite interesting;

http://www.forbes.com/markets/feeds/afx/2008/04/09/afx4871422.html

It gives the impression that the promised B-sector 'Uno' may not be available in Europe (which if true means definitely not the UK) and may not even wear a FIAT badge; instead it will be developed outside Europe for 'emerging markets'.

Perhaps more intriguingly, is mention of a 'micro car' to be built at Tychy for 2010. Which will be a busy time for them given that is when the next generation Panda should be launched as well!

Must look out for a copy of 'Auto Motor und Sport' magazine at my local WH Smiths...

hopefully the micro car will be another part of the fiat/tata relationship, posibly a rebadegd nano for europe. tata still want fiat's help to get into europe even after the LR/Jag purchase. search for news articles containing the worlds fiat and tata and you quickly see just how much they're doing hand in hand.

come on RWD alfa platform!!!!!!!
altho news sugest sthat aint happening, yet

Isn't the 169 already a 'done deal', using technology based on Maserati running gear?

the 169 isnt a done deal at all. officially there are no plans to replace the 159 yet, but most of the mags got caught up in the jag platform rumours before we even knew tata was definately getting jag. autocar started the rumour, but the forums had already been predicting it several weeks before that. officially it hasnt even been discussed yet, but tata have already said they are not willing to share platforms with fiat. hopefully a bit of negotiation can change that and it can be a relationship that benefits both parties.

maserati and alfa ties are linked to the idea that maserati will be used to get alfa back in the US, and people assumed that would mean maserati technology would be made available to alfa. offically neither is happening, although alfa do plan to return to the US eventually.
