Hi folks

I wanted to swap out the original headunit for an Alpine 9886 I had in my old car.

I bought an Autoleads Panda fascia but it won't fit in, it seems to be too tall:bang: Has anyone else had this problem?

I put the original cage back in, and temporarily installed the Alpine, connected up the ISO connectors and aerial plug. The problem now is that while FM works fine; coming in loud and clear, but I can't get a signal on Medium Wave and Long Wave. They worked fine on the original radio, and the Alpine picked it up fine in my old car. Is there anything else I need to do?

Does anyone have any ideas?

I can't get my connects2 facia in either, the screw holes aren't even in the right place lol. For the am you need a converter which basically sends a current up to the aerial to power the aerial amplifier. Autoleads and connects2 both sell them and they can be had for less than a 5er on eBay. You need to wire the blue power wire in to the blue wire of your stereo loom and connect the aerial lead to the top of the cylinder thingy. The blaupunkt stereo has this feature built in but aftermarket stereos do not. Just make sure u get the one with the correct aerial connector on it

Aren't there 2 different dashes on the Pandas?
I dont know stu but theres no way the connects2 is going in without severe mods as the screw holes are in mid air! I wonder if it changed in the facelift to the darker interiors. The one I have is the original OEM one (car came with cassette player) but its all scraped where the dealer obviously struggled to get the blaupunkt unit out. A hacksaw and some araldite might be in order lol.

Gonna email a dealer tomorrow to see if Fiat do a "guaranteed to fit" one based on my vin.

Hi, I'd forgotten about this thread

I returned the Autoleads fascia for a refund as it was cheap crap.

I went to the Fiat dealer and got the proper fascia; part number 735356853. this fitted in perfectly with no messing around.

To solve the MW problem I got an autoleads aerial amplifier and clipped the blue lead into the ISO block for the aerial 12v feed according to the Alpine wiring diagram.

It's a nightmare trying to get the big bundle of cables that come with the Alpine to fit into the dash though.

I'm still using the Fiat speakers driven by the head-unit.

I may install some 2-way component speakers still running off the head-unit in the summer.

I'm afraid I haven't even thought about time correction, I'm going to look this up in the manual.

I had a quick look at the specs online and it didnt make it's tuning capabilities very clear. The TA etc could only be usable using the imprint or other processor but it would be a shame to waste what it can do on the OE speakers if can do it all.
Playing around with a similar unit this weekend we put the mid bass on 2 channels and the tweeters on the other 2. This gave us an active system that we could tune the speakers seperately and time align them to make a very good sound without having to use an amp.
