Just changing all suspension components on mine at the moment. Some surface rust on front subframe, uprights and rear axle but nothing like that
All rubbed back, treated with hydrate 80, painted and covered in the appropriate Bilt Hamber gear inside and out.
Intend keeping the tjet for a while so figure it's worth taking the time.

If needed I don't think the subframe would be too much grief to change at home.

Cheers

Ben

I've just started to take the subframe off, I'll see what its really like then. There is zero rust on the body that's why I'm rather surprised at this.

Not detected at last MOT ? That surprises me...

Regards, Bernie

Last test was in January 2016, it's every 2 yrs here until they are 10 yrs old. Got it off and cut out rust, welded in new piece today, decided to do clutch as well while most was stripped. New drive seals too as one was weeping. Horrible looking oil in box. Hopefully back together tomorrow.

Most of back together now, just waiting for drop links, rust cut out patch welded in and painted and coated.
