Hello all just a few questions!

I have a 1.9 multijet and when it's cold it has a turbo whine when changing gear or revving up but when the car has warmed up this is hardly noticeable at all and the car pulls hard in every gear which no issues so I'm unsure if this is normal or a sign the turbo is on its last legs? Anybody have any suggestions?

Secondly I'm considering a remap but the car is high mileage it has 160k on the clock but does have full service history and has had the oil changed every 8k miles, I was a moderate map I have been quoted 30bhp and 80nm of torque so nothing too massive but has anybody remapped one of these at high mileage? I'm scared the car will just begin to break part by part!

Thanks for reading, I appreciate any responses!

If it really is turbo whine.. that is the turbo hitting the housing walls.
You should get a turbo specialist to take a look at it.. shaft play.. lateral and axial.

It might need a rebuild (or new CHRA... but if it already damaged the housings, hard to say).

I would not get the remap before fixing the turbo whine.

I have read a lot in the forum and there is people saying that they have had there turbos replaced and the whistle just never goes away, I assumed if there was a problem the car would not boost fine oamd the turbo wouldn't work effectively

It needs to be checked.
It can touch just barely.. but at 100k rpm ...

It can be because of shaft play.
