Hi I've just bought a 1.4 Dynamic semi auto 06 plate grande punto. On 70k .

Previous owner said the gearbox was refurbished last year...

On start up it beeps profusely at me. And trying to select neutral seems like pot luck....
Stir the stick around and maybe it will find neutral
Otherwise just sits there in 1st.... unless the lottery comes in and neutral is found.
There is a message saying manual selection unavailable
Sometimes gearbox light flashing.
Oh did I mention the continuous beeping.....
It's says see handbook.(not present) I assume all it will say is take it to a stealer.. which I refuse to do.ive hooked up multiecuscan but can't connect to anything as it's not a full version.. if I obtain a full licence will I be able to diagnose all issues..
Eml light is also lit.
I didn't pay much for the car so if need be ill strip it for parts if the box is toast.

I've only drove it round the block and gears seem notchy.... I'm assuming there maybe more than one issue..

Any advise appreciated..

OK. Got full ecuscan.

Came up with these faults..
Pictured.

I think a few faults aren't critical.
I would like to do a oil change on the box.

I've started it a few times and no new messages have arose..

Could it of been a duff battery. Which I changed for a new 1.

Will the oil change smooth out gear change

These are all read by sensors. a low battery will give them a poor supply at start-up. new battery - looks good now.:)

the actuation should be LEARNT by the car - the MES can get all of these reset, (y)

Hi.
So took it out for first time today and before I even set off the dash was telling me manual mode not available...
Set off in auto on a 10 mile round trip. About half way gearbox warning light was flashing.
Coming back to mine and it goes into sodding neutral under acceleration. Had to pull over. Tried a few options on gearbox. Beeped like hell at me Reverse engaged then 1st came up and set back off...

So seems like there is a fault other than duff battery..

Any ideas.?

Any ideas.?
Get it working long enough to swap it for something else..

I think I've seen one thread where Duologic problems were fully resolved. When it works it's great, but when it goes wrong it's bloody awful and the threads describing these problems usually resemble whack-a-mole where fixing one apparent cause leads to the problem reoccurring again with a completely different prime suspect in the frame. My own experiences were that these 'boxes are worst in cold damp weather and certainly an anecdotal scan through the forum suggests there are more problem posts in winter.

did you delete all errors, then get the system to recalibrate..??

Yes I deleted all errors. But didn't carry out a calibration. How do you do that..? I've got PAID version of mes didn't see an option.

can't remember from the top of my head..

but it basically purges the selespeed fluid of air,
then relearn the clutch bite point, etc

you know you can use SIMULATE to try all this from your sofa / bed..rather than sitting in a cold FIAT:)

OK. So done a calibration after erasing recent error codes.

Took it out for a drive. Same distance as before. As soon as I set off in manual it switches to auto with MANUAL METHOD UNAVAILABLE showing on dash.
So driving in auto taking after a short while fm gearbox light flashing again and neutral engaged under hard acceleration. Had to engage reverse before I could select auto for drive.
Then gearbox light went out and I could select manual to pull off then it switches back to auto within first gear and MANUAL MODE UNAVAILABLE illuminates again.

Got it back and plugged MES bk in and got pictured error codes.

OK. Found the selespeed oil was a good 2 inches below LOW indicator.
Bled the system. Put fresh Oil in it. Purged and Bled system.

Took it out for a drive. I've got more control on manual. Keeps coming and going.
The usual error message then next min 8ve got manual back...

Reads codes when got bk. P1772 keeps coming back.
Re Purged system using MES then out again. Still same symptoms checked codes again and same p1772.

Is it possible it actually is the selector at fault.?

Having similar issue with you – can you recommend a guide on how to change the selespeed oil?

EDIT never mind – found it. It's hidden behind he aluminium cover on the left hand side of the batery!

Great. Well found...

To bleed it you need to remove the pipe to the right of it 12mm as I remember.
Undo the 15mm cap
Turn on ignition and catch the waste oil. It should pump it all out.

Replace bottom pipe and top up to fill line.
I done a few cycles of prompting a prime by ignition off n on door open and close
Then carried out a calibration via MES.
I haven't recovered full functionality but have ordered a second hand selector ... see if what the MES say is right.

Im also having the gear switch error p1772, can you advise on what you replaced and where from?

Many Thanks

Hi, I believe you could have it repaired, even by yourself ! Supposed to be a 4 switches device actuated by the lever (selector). Could you possibly open the failed one and figure out what is worn/broken and if it's serviceable without being a rocket scientist... ?

Regards, Bernie

Hi Bernie

I'm having the same issue as OP. P1772 error code. gear selector bad.

could you please tell me how to remove the auto gear selector module from the body. I removed the gear cover (cloth cover) and can't see any bolts down there.

Do i need to remove the arm rest and center console panels to access those?

Regards
SM

Not sure as I never did it but possibly from underneath the car, see picture from a manual lever but should be very similar.
Tell us how you get on ...

BRs, Bernie
