Hi People,
The title may sound strange but I have recently purchased a property in Spain and along with it a Fiat Punto. I have checked to Spanish documents to try to fine the model but all it says is:

2005 Fiat Punto
1242cc
Tipo 188
Varianti 188BXA1A

It is a 5 door hatchback, 5 speed manual and is petrol. Am I right in thinking its a Punto Grande 60hp?

Grateful for any help,
Barry

Many thanks Andy, 60hp?

@60 ponies in all probability.. BUT it could be a differing spec. to the UK.

the grandes used a slightly more high tech version..,
but had more issues.. including being fussy over valve timing.

the Mk1 and Mk2 were great cars really, and you SHOULD have avoided the corrosion that finishes off most in UK.

TBH biggest issue could be compromised cooling = over heating.

Cheers Charlie,
Yes, it's been in Spain since new (LHD) and garaged so it's in quite good nick apart from a few dings from other careful Spanish Parkers!!
I drove it for 10 days in 35-39 degree heat and no overheating issues so fingers crossed I've got a good un!
I just wanted the model so I can take some servicing bits across with me, plugs, filters etc.

As promised, screenprint of ePER spec. As it is an older model, not much info. Not sure why it has a double listing, but in the parts listings anything specifically for "Opt229" is greyed out, so apparently not for this car. So appears to be a standard 1.2 8v, 60hp. Engine number is important, as it is later than the change point that gave it the round oil filler, and a cam position sensor. Also smaller spark plugs. (If same as my Panda, will be NGK DCPR7E-N-10 also known by short code 4983) So make sure you use the engine number to get bits.
