Hi all, i went to have a look at a 1.4 Tjet yesterday and really thinking of going to but it today but I've heard fiats aren't the most reliable and would like to know what you think to your grande punto sporting 1.4 Tjet.
This one has 2 owners and 54,000 and a fair amount of services, how does that sound? Things id like to know is how reliable are they, i do a lot of driving. What things always seem to go wrong? and then what mods do you recommend and any photos of your cars.

hope someone can help because i am stuck on weather to get this or not

cheers

These are great little cars. They have the 5 speed box not the horrible unreliable 6 speed box which all fail sooner or later.
Like any car if they have been well looked after and not neglected it should not cause you any problems. Mine is faultless two years on.

A service history with regular oil changes is important with the turbo. Boy racers with no money tend to like these cars-buy with care.

Brake discs tend to need changing at 40-50k miles but cheap to do with aftermarket discs. Same with shock absorbers.
Check for oil leaks (its a Fiat after all)
Check everything works obviously.
Check for MOt advisories.

Check under the brake servo for rust where water sits- if left it can rust through completely (see "common faults")

These cars are fantastic fun to drive and reliable if cared for- find a good one and you will love it! Cheap to insure, good on petrol.

oh and don't forget to look for a cambelt change (and water pump preferably)
It is due at that mileage NOW
Expensive job retail £500
