I've got a strange knocking noise on my Grande punto left front passenger side. I've had new drop links replaced new anti roll bar bushes. A brand new wish bone with complete bushes and ball joint. I've even changed the top strut bearing replaced. I've even got the track rod end changed. But seems to be the knocking noise isn't going away. I've spent a lot of money on the car but can't get rid of the knock.

I've had the car checked by garages they've checked the engine mounting behind the battery and that was fine. The springs have been checked and no cracks. The exhaust has been checked and nothing loose. Engine mountings checked. The car has been ramped up and there seems to be the problem is not diagnosed. Can anyone please help.

It knocks when breaking with force and moving off and going over potholes and bumps.

Can anyone help because I want this noise gone.

I have the same problem with my stilo abarth I can't find anything loose or missing I'm getting close to strip the hole front end down and start again

The anti roll bar has now been taken out and the drop links aswell and I took if for a test drive and still same problem. Can't believe what it is. But its really annoying me now.
Every time I break hard and set off quick it just knocks once.
Is there anyone who can shed light on this matter.

I finally have managed to fix this knock. I took wheel off and check calipers and they were tight. I checked break pads and opened them up and they were moving freely.
However I then decided to tight every nut and bolt on the nearside. There were a nut under the subframe chasis which was loose so I tightened that up and the power steering nut was just a little loose so I torque wrenched them all. After it was test driven and guess what Walla its gone.
So first thing which I realised check all nuts and bolts before spending otherwise you can change the whole side and spend loads but coming to conclusion it can just be one loose bolt.
Hope this helps for others out there. Having trouble in knocking noise.

I have what sounds like the same problem! Knocking and clunking noise when I go over bumps at low speed, can feel it pretty horribly through the steering wheel. Spend a load of money getting replacement drop links, bushes, track rod ends and still no difference.

Also, when the car is stationary and I turn the wheel I can feel a bit of play followed by a clunking through the wheel. Reckon it's the same thing?

Best thing is too jack the car up and check all nuts and bolts just in case something maybe is loose and for your own assurance.
There's even 2 steering bolts you can try to tighten they could be loose.

There is a common fault on the Grande punto for the top strut mount to squeal and make noise when turning also this is a major cause for knock aswell. I got mine replaced where I bought them from dealers original genuine equipment improved for 25 quid each side. Because its common fault their cheaper than eBay, eBay prices reach up to 50 or more quid.
