As there isn't one definitive answer to the question of "what type of bulb is in the centre brake light" I thought I'd let you know... or at least the ones who haven't just guessed at it like I did
They are individual Capsule bulbs not LED's and they are type 286 12v 1.2w like these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/286-INDICATOR-DASH-CAR-AUTO-BULBS-12V-1-2W-PK-10-NEW-/280592230898?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item415499a9f2
Halfords charge £2 A BULB or ebay charge £2 for 10.

Even the useless handbook doesn't tell you this (n) it just says 2.3w  But the ones I got from halfords work fine :)

Although these : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CAR-BULB-284-12V-2-3W-CAPLESS-INDICATOR-PANEL-10PK-/220645722160?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item335f828830 say 2.3w on and look the same.

EDIT: Just checked the 2.3w bulbs and they measure the same as the others so go for them http://www.ringautomotive.co.uk/product_detail.asp?prod=60
So use the R284 bulb
