General Can I have Aux in - On Blue & Me

General Can I have Aux in - On Blue & Me

It does have a USB but I wouldn't mind if I had to loose this feature in favour of the AUX..

Reason being the USB doesn't work with the iPhone nor my shiny new 'Come's with Music' Nokia 5310.. so I want an AUX in, but haven't been able to get a solid answer =(

Would be useful for me aswell, as then my Co-pilot could use Ipod to change songs and make playlists on the fly when on roadtrips with my mates. At the moment is a bit irritating as with Blue&Me only the driver can change the song.

It can be done! With alot of effort! lol!

Basically when you take out the headunit there is already a plug going into the head unit for the blue and me, therefore you need to make an AUX cable and splice the wires in along with the existing Blue & Me Cable.

Once we had connected the Blue and Me cables and our newly made AUX Cable and switched to 'Media Player' it recognised both inputs so started playing songs I had on my memory stick and songs I had on my phone and the same time! lol!

I thought the solution would be to just plug out the blue and me and therefore, I could plug my AUX Lead in and switch to media player and it would play it.. Sure, I would loose Blue & Me but surely it would work? But it doesn't work like this, when you switch to Blue and Me it finds the AUX input and you can hear the song playing for 3 seconds before it says 'No Media Found' and switches back to FM Radio.

Solution? Well, we looked through the various options and none would allow the car to remain in 'Media Player' mode for any more than 3 seconds! I then came up with the idea of creating a short 10 second Silent MP3 file and looping it.. So the 'Media Player' option would stay enabled as before. It would therefore still play both my memory stick song and Aux input at the same time, but if the only thing on the memory stick was this silent file then all you can hear is whatever you connect to your Aux Cable ;)

Problem solved. Credit goes to Dad for 99% of it, Silent MP3 idea I'm taking the credit for! lol!

I realise that is hard to follow but if anyone wants I can make a guide in more clear terms.

The main jist of this is basically Blue and ME has no option for AUX but you can trick it into using the exisiting 'Media Player' option as a way of playing your AUX input.

Hi I've just got a 59 plate fiat punto grande.
I bought and installed an aux cable into the plug in the back of the head unit.

My car has blue &me
The music plays when I select the windows logo on the steering wheel for about 20 seconds, on the radio at this point "voice" is visible.
Then it cuts out and goes back to radio

Stripes
How do you make a looped MP3 file? I'm thinking I will have to cut the connector off the aux lead and splice it into the old plug which is currently removed

Alternatively if you are able to send me your silent looped MP3 that will save me a lot of hassle as I only have an iPad so making one sounds like a mission

Thanks
Alex

therefore you need to make an AUX cable and splice the wires in along with the existing Blue & Me Cable.

It's not that complicated. You need the AUX-3.5mm jack cable, and to replace the Blue&Me connector in the back of the stereo with this. Crucially, the Blue&Me connector *doesn't* have to be connected to the stereo for this to work, so unless you plan on using it you don't have to splice the wires together.

I downloaded a silent .mp3 file from squobble.blogspot.ca (can't post a URL, just search "silent mp3 hour"; you need WinRAR to unpack), and used the menu to start 'playing' that file. Obviously you don't hear anything (it doesn't matter that it was silent because the audio isn't connected, but being 8 hours long means you never have to think about it).

That's enough to convince the car to stay on Media Player, meanwhile you can use the audio jack as you'd expect. I hooked up a bluetooth receiver with a dual USB charger, so I can connect my phone wirelessly through the speakers.

I wanna give a massive shout out to badge.

I tried your method and it works. Have to sacrifice Bluetooth but a happy sacfrifice none the less.

I searched hours trying to find a solution and yours worked. I decided to make an account to thank you and encourage others to try your method , providing they can live without bluetooth

Orrr you could just get an FM transmitter like I have. Charged my phone and acts like an AUX

Hi Stripes,

Today I just installed an AUX to my 59 plate GP fitted with B&M.
First off you need to check which model your radio is. If it's Blaupunkt, you need a cable with a blue ISO connector, if your radio isn't Blaupunkt then you need a cable with a yellow ISO connector.
You can get them on Amazon although they're cheaper on Ebay- just search 'Fiat punto AUX cord'. My one was about £4 if I remember correctly.
Installing the cable:

  • Pull your radio out using the keys (locating holes are above and below the volume knob and the arrow pad)

  • You should then see the leads for the power & speakers and the USB port on the left with the fuse and on the right you should see the aerial lead

  • Take a look at the USB port leads, they should be connected to the side you want to put the AUX connector in

  • Remove the ISO connector for the USB leads (take care, you need to push a little tab in to pull it out)

  • Plug the ISO connector end of the AUX cord into the slot you've just emptied

  • You can then route the cable around into the glovebox (I found it easier to push the ISO connector into the radio compartment from the glovebox)

  • Making sure everything is properly plugged in, firmly push the radio back into the head unit and take the keys out

  • Turn the ignition to the first notch, plug the AUX cord into your phone and select 'Media Player' from the B&M menu on the dash

  • Select 'Folders' and then press play on your phone's music app

Your car should now play your phone's music!
It works with third party apps such as Spotify and youtube as well.

How does an FM transmitter work then ? Not come across one of them?
FM transmitters use a low powered radio signal to transmit your phone/iPod's audio to the car's radio. They can produce a fairly low quality sound compared to wired connection.

Basically you plug it into your cig lighter, then you plug your phone in via an AUX or Charger cable (e.g. mine is a lightning cable so it charges my phone and plays music). Then adjust the FM tuner on the transmitter, make the tuner the same in the car, it should replace the radio station with the music from your phone. No adds needed!

Works perfectly for me and haven't had to fiddle around with my car trying to fit an AUX

If your looking for one, I recommend the Belkin ones on Amazon. They work a dream.

I did just as u did with a small golden touch, try to update ur blue&me to version 5.5.
After I did the update and then press the 'MEDIA' I can choose between CD and 'MEDIA PLAYER' REGARDLESS the USB stick is plugged, so now I can use the AUX cable without plugging USB stick and loaded with blank MP3.

Can I ask a couple of questions:
Is it possible to identify whether the head unit is a Blaupunkt from the outside before removing from the dash? I would prefer to order the correct lead first before pulling the head out.

Also can anyone confirm if this will this work on a 500 Lounge, 2009 with Blue&me?

There seems to be a lot of information to say it doesn't work but this is the most informative post I have found so far.

Also I did a B&M firmware update last night but have no idea what version it has. How can I find out? I did try asking it - VERSION but no response.

Also does the Blue&Me phone Bluetooth call & receive still function?

Thanks

Hello everyone,
I am working in a project to keep all features of blue & me and aux, and also improving it with Android auto, wich gives me better interface when driving, and bluetooth music & call too! When finished, I will show you all guys ;)

Regards,
Julio.
