well i've done just over 8000 miles and i need a new front right tyre because i ahve 0.5mm left until it's illegal... wtf? surely thats not right!

14,350 miles on my 3 remaining original tyres and plenty life left in 'em yet. Drivers side front replaced due to an unrepairable puncture a while back. As Kris says on the 1.9 Mjet torque is a tyre killer if you use it "enthusiastically"!

Get the wheel set up and tracking checked ASAP I say. Mine are wearing nice n even. 2.6 bar front, 2.3 bar rear checked twice a week. (y)

I got to 18500 miles before i had to replace the fronts, on 20300 now and the backs still got a lot of life in them yet.

Right, went into Hi-Q, Been told i could do another 4000-6000 miles on the front tyres and that Stoneacre are trying to rip me off.

Also getting a special deal on GoodYear Eagle F1's for £100 a piece with a wider tyre for better grip.

Getting the remap to 190bhp so i thought better tyres will help cope with the demand of the engine :)

Thanks all for your recommendations :)

Let me know how the eagle F1s compare to your bridgestones.

People forget about tyres sometimes.

170+ bhp, uprated brakes, uprated suspension - it's all for nothing if your tyres are no good.

32,500 miles on my rear tyres not much life left in them down to about 3mm.the fronts need replaced again 3mm left in the one i replaced it with.the other front tyre was renewed by the body shop in July that's good for another 10k,eagle f1 that's the standard tyre fit on the panda 100 hp they look great new but have a very strange tread on them.i noticed after about 6k that they started to look very worn indeed so in my opinion they are inferior to the bridgestones due the fact i think they are softer.:(

got 18k on my front bridgstones before changing them.....

the bridgestone potenzas are good, I have also run F1's, and they are a cracking tyre, unless the temp goes down below freezing, then they REALLY struggle... they are at their best on a hot summers day.... £100 each fitted is a good price (y)

due to current crap finances, i replaced the bridgestones with cheap federal tyres (£60) and they are fine in dry, and wet conditions, just not as ridgid as the bridgestones (although they are XL) so they feel alot less precise under hard cornering, they move around more, the sidewall is not as stiff..... just makes the car feel 'slack' st the front when pressing on....

If I have the spare cash next time, I have a list of my favorite tyres

1)bridgestone potenzas
2) eagle F1's
3)pirelli p'nero-zero's
4)toyo t1-r's...

in no particular order, whichever of the above has an offer on them, ALL good tyres...
the cheap federals are ok, (as my car gets driven very gently most of the time) but when pressing on, not a patch on the ones listed above....

will keep them makes in mind when shopping for new tyres.my last i had vredestein sports contact 2 fitted to it designed giugiaro what a gorgeous looking tyre they where great in the wet too.may get them if i find a dealer that stocks them?:)

those verdstiens have a good reputation in the wet... my friend has them on his merc a-class, and swears by them... I haven't tried them though... :)

I managed about 12500 miles on my fronts and then changed them to toyo T1 r's which ive done 12500 miles on now and still got loads of tread left on them.. .

Backs are still the original potenzas and they've still got loads left! Will prob change all 4 tyres early next year for toyo's all round.. .

I'd be gutted if I got only 30000 out of a set of tyres,on my last car,a mini cooper I had michellin pilot premacy's,I got 60500 miles out of one set ,rotating the tyres once,I have just measured the tread on the one remaining wheel I have from the set that were wrecked in the crash in may,it had done 27000 miles and has still got 7mm of tread on it and I teach people to drive.how do you wear a tyre out in under 20000,I've never done that ever.As well as being an instructor I'm also Police class 1 trained(because I used to be a traffic officer)I just don't wear tyres out quickly.
