*how does some 14 year old walking home from school have more right than me to be on that road... i pay road tax to drive on that road. if its damaged its my tax that pays for it. so y do i wait for them.*
Smee, it's your duty as a driver to be courteous to other users of the road. Doesn't matter if they've 'paid' to use it. For whatever reason they are using the road, attempting to cross it or whatever, it's their right to do so - just as much right as it is for you to drive along it. It's not your road, it's not anyone's road.
The only difference is, you have a killing machine and thus think it's your road as you have the advantage over the helpless pedestrian. The pedestrian in comparison to a driver in a nice safe car is open to anything - thats why the individuals right to cross the road should be greater than yours.
Scenario:-
You see a 5 year old on one side of the road and you then spot the parent on the other, the child wants to cross the crossing ... what you gonna do? Drive on through? Now, if in that situation you stop, why should that be any different to any pedestrian of any age? If in that scenario you carry on driving, you don't deserve your licence.
