Hi how many people turn out to this looking to go if the weather is nice

If we are stuck for a place to go if it rains, I would recommend 'The Fighting Cocks' Pub on the B3078. They have lots of room inside and outside and plenty of parking space.

There is also a large parking area a little up the road which would make a good picnic area if the weather is ok, some good views as well across the forest.

We have now been out for our event pre-'scout' and have a couple of ideas. If the weather is fine, which looks extremely unlikely, we will head for the Anderwood car park just outside Burley. More likely, we will head for Burley itself, which is a lovely little New Forest village that the group has not visited before. There are two really nice teashops and two pubs which both serve good food, so plenty of indoor choices. As the two choices are quite close to each other, we can use the same driving route and so make our decision on the morning of the meeting. Please note that the main Burley car park is Pay and Display, with the following charges:
1 hour 50p
2hours £1.50
3 hours £2.20
If it is just a little bit wet, there is a free car park a short walk away.
Look forward to seeing you all.

Thanks Mark, as always you excel in the planning department. I love Burley, Liz and I often picnic under a tree overlooking the lake and feed everything in sight, Horses, Ducks, Swans and birds as well as ourselves. (y)

Just checked the weather and it is looking good !

We are ready to go - bringing Lucifer and Dot.
Lucifer is the camper van so if anyone needs a cuppa......

The plan is to bring the picnic.... and if it does rain and we end up in the pub we have lunch sorted for work on Monday!

Plus our son has just passed his test and will be following us down in his bright yellow sequicento.... I'll pack my toolkit ;)

Can I suggest a cut of point for picnic or pub lunch decision (maybe this evening?) I'd hate to bring food and it turns out that we eat in the pub or show up with no food and start eying grass (or the forest ponies :)) while others eat their lovely picnics...

Weather looks good at the moment but still chance of few showers...
