:bang:hi I could do with some advice as my 06/07 Iveco/ ducato 120 multijet idles funny it ticks over ok but after 2 mins it makes a noise/engine note goes deep as if a flaps opening or shutting up and you can feel air blowing out of the air intake if you blip[ the throttle it stops the air blowing out of air intake and noise goes. when idleing for another minute it does it again .ie tried blanking the egr off it makes no difference ive replaced the egr vacumm control unit thinking it might be sending signals to ecu causeing fault ive cleaned the air flow meter with wurth air sensor cleaner ive done a leak off test on injectors .now thinking of replacing air flow meter and lamba sensor van runs ok but sometimes lacks power have taken it to garage they said they would have to replace all the sensors simply cant afford it I wouldn't mind buying a sensor if I new which one it was as all sensors working on elm327 obd but I don't know what the readings should be hopefull that somebody else has had this problem before please please any advice is more than welcome many thanks

If theres air blowing out the intake it sounds like the throttle body is being closed

Whats your maf reading, what are you reading it with and whats the unit mg/i kg/hr g/s etc.

Hi I really appreciate your input on the problem have taken air pipe off and when this deep noise happens on idle the flap closes on its own .when flap is open it sounds normal on idle and reads 6/7 hg when flap closes on idle hg goes to 14/15 and noise becomes deep and as soon as you touch the throttle it drops back to normal noise flap opens and sits at 6/7 hg ive since replaced the mass air flow sensor with a genuine bosch type its no different .what is the flap for and could I remove it or would it be a bad idea any info is more than welcome thanx thanx thanx kind regards nikki

On my old 2007 120m/jet I had a slight lack of power under acceleration at aprox 50000 miles, then the fuel inj warning light came on, my mechanic mate popped his fault code reader thingy on, and it was the throttle body, the flap had worn out, instead of a smooth open/shut it was tough nearly seized motion and opened in like stages or a bit at a time, so the air flow was either too high or not enough dependent on flap position vs throttle pedal position , complete unit replaced, codes cleared and never another problem since,
After that was replaced, I stopped using supermarket fuels, (BP account) and every month approx 5000 miles gave her an injector clean (redex or similar 500ml to a full tank) and once a week a tank of ultimate diesel) never had any issues, sold at 235000 miles, hope that helps

Hi I still not got to the bottom of problem yet van has developed a tappet noise was wondering if a inlet valve was sticking or hydralic tappet or tappets problem was wondering if oil pressure may be causeing tappet noise the oil light does not come on when running but ive been told that theres a oil strainer on pick up in sump which collects carbon from the oil restricting oil flow to top end and gallerys which feed hydraulic tappets whilst at low rpm once rpm increases oil pressure increases and noisey tappets noise is reduced has anybody had this problem before with ducato multijet iveco engine and is it possible that a sticking tappet could cause a inlet valve to stick when ticking over after a minute of idle as well as tapping noise any info would be great
