Hi I'm a newbie on here, so here goes.

I have had my Ducato checked out due to the van cutting out or not running smoothly and seem to be intermittent and the codes that were found were 0638 & 0235, and was told intermittent faults for both were along each code.
Can anyone please advise on possible causes or if these are common issues.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response Davren,

Would the Throttle Actuator Control & Turbocharger boost sensor A circuit be a faulty sensor, a bad electrical connector or a complete unit problem. Or do i still need a bit of investigation to find the fault, with the codes just giving an indication of area to look at.
Just wondered if this might of been a common issue, or someone else might of had that could direct me locating the problem

I'm not familiar with the Ducato but the 2 codes you've posted are generic codes and are applicable to all models.

P0638 could be a poor connection on the throttle actuator that's probably located on the throttle body.

P0235 could be a blocked MAP sensor that's probably located on the inlet manifold.

Sorry... I don't know if they are common problems on the Ducato.

EDIT: A thread here about P0638 on the ducato: https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/307773-p0638-throttle-actuator-control-range.html

And one about P0235 here: https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/247678-2004-2-8-jtd-error-code-p0235.html

Thanks again Davren, will have a look this weekend at the actuator and map sensor.

Will post back my findings.

Doesn't that one have the egr feeding into the throttle body in which case the throttle body, intake and map could be caked with gunge. Sticky throttle body would cause boost to deviate from expected value.

I had the "throttle actuator" error when the alternator was on it's way out... sometimes I'd have the "red battery light of death" warning, sometimes you could rev it past 4000 and the light would go out.... mostly the red light would stay on and the ECU would run the engine faster to squeeze some power out... New Alternator solved all issues... so far. :slayer: (£120+vat)

Hi, did u sorted yours problem ?? i have the same motor year and dose two errors ;/

My Ducato 2009 low roof 2.3 had both of those error codes while I was in Tasmania; I replaced the fuel filter to see if that helped and for 6 weeks had no problem. 100km from home in South Australia, the engine momentarily stalled and the P0638 error came up. I'm intrigued that replacing the alternator did the trick; maybe it's similar to replacing the fuel filter?
