my 1984 ducato, seems to be getting hard to start:bang:, it cracks over but doesn't start then the battery drains really quickly:yuck:.
any ideas?

Could be the battery itself?

Even if it isn't, a new battery for winter is a good investment

Does it sound like its turning over slower or it it cranking at normal speed and not firing.

If battery has ever been allowed to go flat the lifespan is dramatically reduced.

If battery turns out to be ok. Check the voltage from the alternator, maybe the battery isn't being fully charged.

Brush material can cause shorts in the starter and alternator. Might be fine when it stops in one orientation and flatten the battery in another.
