What are you trying to accomplish?

The axle has a slight bend when fully loaded so the extra camber it gives is wearing the inside of the tires,I was going to weld a length of 50x50 angle to bott. of it.I have seen others with this bend so it is not just ours,some years ago i saw a photo. of one that had been done but i cant find anything about it now.

Sorry I just realised you're talking about the older ducato, there was an option of a different axle for camping cars so I don't know what your axle is like.

That being said there will already be mounting plates welded to it so of course it can be welded but if its hard steel you may need to preheat and postheat.

Thanks thats what i thought,so i did it today!the hardest part was getting the dam thing high enough for me to get comfy to weld it.The angle has taken the bend out,but i spotted that at sometime it must have had a fair old knock on the offside just under the spring mount and has put a slight kink in the thing so i will see how we go with it re tire wear thanks again.
