Hi Folks,
Just been to fiat as the Ducato keeps playing up, they said it is the EGR Valve that needs cleaning & they want £227+ vat!!!!
Can anyone point me in the right direction of the Location of this on the 2007 Ducato please so i can do it myself.
Possible Picture if you Can.
Many thanks!!!

Hi,

On the previous 2.8 model it is shown as at the rear of the engine on the bulkhead, however on the 2.0 model it is in the plastic casing again on the rear bulkhead.

Hope this assists tried to copy and paste from the manual but it would only print text, not pics.
Regards
Stewart

Hi
Should be able to help - Which engine do you have, it would be easier if the year, model & also the engine was specified in the original post makes it much easier to reply with the correct answer.
Cheers
Hi, its a 2007 2.3 120 multijet.
Any assistance will be great!

It looks that there is coolant running through it.
Position the vehicle on the lift.
It also says something about removing rigid pipe (1) between turbocharger & heat exchanger in bottom pic.
- Working from the engine compartment:
1. Disconnect the vacuum intake pipe from the rapid connector.
2. Remove the bands (2a) and disconnect the water inlet/outlet pipes (2b).
Seal the water inlet/outlet pipes to prevent coolant leaks.
3. Undo the EGR heat exchanger fixing bolt and remove it
4. Undo the fixing nut on the exhaust manifold and remove it.
Working from underneath the vehicle:
1. Undo the EGR heat exchanger fixing bolt and remove it.
2. Undo the fixing nut on the exhaust manifold and remove it.
3. Remove the device from the vehicle.
Refitting - Working from underneath the vehicle:
- Fit the EGR valve modulator.
- Screw in the fixing nut on the exhaust manifold and the fixing bolt on the EGR heat exchanger and tighten to the recommended torque.
EGR valve Bolt M8x1.25 2.5daNm 2.3 JTD
EGR valve Nut M8x1.25 2.5daNm 2.3 JTD
Working from the engine compartment:
- Screw in the fixing nut on the exhaust manifold and the fixing bolt on the EGR heat exchanger and tighten to the recommended torque.
Connect the water inlet/outlet pipes and fit the retaining bands.
- Connect the vacuum intake pipe.
Hope this helps

Freespirit...a very useful & detailed post (which we will keep for further use as a guide(y)), but on the 2.3 its actually located at the front of the engine.

I recommend the garage does this as its not a bad price (considering the part is quite pricey) but there are a few potential points that can be very awkward and one which could result in problems rendering vehicle off the road for a few days.

I have done loads of these and a ramp is extremely useful for such a job. You will also need new gaskets for the EGR/pipe.

Dont even consider cleaning it, just change it.

Yes, but they are saying its not a warranty part, but i have since been told there is a recall on these?!

Where did you get this information from?

There is no EGR recall.

There is a software recall that can cure this problem, unfortunally many owners do nothing about it (hy this is I dont know, perhaps as a working van it needs to be on the road but owner must make a effort to get all notified recalls carried out) until theres a fault of course.

EGR is not covered under 3rd year warranty on vans, I suggest you check your vehicles warranty start date.

The easy way out is to throw a bottle of Redex in to a full tank and he presto! the light goes out in about 2 miles!!
