Technical Doblo Speeding Warning - IMPORTANT

So, can we clarify this clearly and once and for all?

If this is wrong let me know:

(from direct.gov)

There are two possible scenarios that the Doblo could fall within:

Scenario 1.

The passenger carrying version of the Doblo is the car that the van was derived from, the car limits apply.

For the Doblo Cargo the rules are different.

If the Doblo Cargo suffers from the 2000kg limit then it is a car derived van, so the passenger version is fine as it is a car that the van was derived from!

Scenario 2.

The passenger carrying version of the Doblo is a van derived car, the car limits apply as it has windows and back seats and is designed to carry people and their associated luggage etc.

The Doblo Cargo is the van that the car was derived from. Therefore, it is a goods vehicle under 7.5 tonnes and should follow the limits in the table above at all times.

Anyone follow that?:D

i predict a lot of people caught out by this!

I have been one of them, not only fiats but transit connect high top, and the vw caddy too. I got done on the A38 to Plymouth by a camera van in a connect (n)

NOT A HAPPY BUNNY!

This 60mph speed limit only applies to commercial vehicles.
It does not apply to a private car, be it an MPV or any other type of
private vehicle. The V5C gives the details of the vehicle type.
A manufacturer's van derived car as long as it is registered as a private vehicle
can drive at 70mph on the motorway and on dual carriageways with a central barrier or reservation and 60mph on unlimited single carriageway roads. (y)

If the weight parameter applied to private vehicles, Rolls Royce
would be out of business!! :D ;)

ZHi Ben. I want to place some questions regarding my fiat Doblo but I can't find how to place anything on the forum.
We have just bought an 07 plate Doblo. I drove it 50 miles home and it was ok. Then the temperature gauge shot up to over heating for 2 seconds the engine management light came on and the car stalled. This happened a few times and I took it back to a nominated garage ( after having to call greenflag.
They we supposed to have fixed it and I drove home again with no trouble. The next day it did the same. I had to call green flag again. Even without the engine running the needle on the gauge does the same (with the ignition switched on)
I have driven 120 mile and it has happened about 20 times. Any suggestions? (n)

I was tugged on the a13, old bill gave the over weight limit and done me.
Funny though he said the limit was 60 but i was doing 80.
Didnt argue and swallowed

Good money maker for the powers that be. I wouldn't have known about this, I have a Doblo 7 seater, must look that up now.

The axle weights are always a little higher. If you were to load the vehicle more to one end you could be under the max vehicle weight but over the axle weight. They always are a little over.
It used to be that if a car derived van had no rear windows fitted the van speed limits applied but I think it's more the taxation class now. Goods or private.

As I've been seeking to find out what limits apply to my Doblo I went to hunt out the GVW - 1935kg - Also my V5C clearly states car derived van on it.

My Doblo is an early 2005 though - one of the last of the old cargos with the piece of bumper over the headlight. I love it though! It just keeps on going!

I was a HGV1 diver, Runnymede area, worked for a big food shop, (T), had to do a run down the A31/A303 a lot, single rd lanes some of the way, had to do 40mph, we had trackers on, when cars past me on 2 lanes bits, I got a lot of waves, I think they were waving at me and smiling, but wot does some one do, speed, points on licence, lose job, keep pulling over every 5mins,
