Two weeks ago I bought a 1.3 Van. So far I'm quite impressed with it. Economical, very quiet for a diesel (I have a Land Rover 90TDi). Bit light on the steering. Nothing so far to fault.

Now my question: Is it only has dash speakers and I would like to fit door speakers as the car version.
Is the wiring for the speakers already in the door loom? If so what are the colours? and finally what size speakers?

if your model is the pre2004 model
the side door uses 6 inch speakers.
do take note not to get those speaker with huge magnet base
(.eg infinity 6010 ref series , pioneer comp ,)
as the rear space are pretty limited ( block by the motor magnet)
(speakers tested that fits, Lanzer 6inch component , rainbox delux 265 6.5inchinch)

if your doblo is the newfacelift model,
i had the space is even smaller, good luck :)

Got there before me ;)

I understand there is no current wiring in the door for the speakers, as they do not have door speakers on the Doblo Cargo. However, any speaker wire run back up through the door, through the small flexible tunnel into the bodywork and then up to the CD player will work fine. Another thing to check is that the holes are actually there in the door and not blanked off, as sometimes people mistake them for grilles when in fact they are solid and do not have holes :)

Hi Guys
Thanks for the prompt replys. It's a 2005 1.3 SX. The holes are there in the doors, I had the panel out to have a look. So it's the 'nimble fingers' job of running the wires to the back of the CD player.
If there is an easy way to get behind the dash more tips are always welcome.
Thanks again
John

To be honest, I ran 2 RCA leads for my Subwoofer and after the trouble of getting an aftermarket CD player in from the start I took all the dash apart. Of course speaker wire is more flexible and smaller than RCA phono leads, so you may get away with just seeing where it comes through (somewhere near the fusebox probably on the bottom right of the dash) and threading it up with your hand past the heater vents and up through the hole.

Though to be honest it's quicker to take the dash apart and it's easy :) If you want me too I'll post up a step-by-step guide of how to do it for you... Although if you could wait till tomorrow that would be great (y)

Also glad to see another Landrover guy here ;) believe it or not A Landrover 90TDI was going to be my first car (love them go offroading a bit) and then I ended up with a Doblo :D you got both you lucky sod :p oh and by the way, your not THE John are you? From LRO?

Hi
Tomorrow will be fine.
I'm a Peak and Dukeries Land Rover Club member. We do at least one trial a month. Great fun, especially the repairs (not). Nothing lightweight about a Land Rover. But they are almost as good as a kit car everything unbolts right down to the chassis so everything is so easy to get at.
Have a look at our website it may fire you up to get a Land Rover.

Ahhh your not the editor or Landrover Owner then :p

The few reasons I didn't go for one were that they are quite expensive to buy and find a good one second hand (was looking at 200-300tdi's), the fuel economy, and I couldn't fit all my gear in the back of a landy and couldn't afford a trailer to tow it with :) but when I'm earning, I do hope to get one. In the meantime I go with my unc and help him out with his :)

the rear speaker wires are already in place on the passenger side remove the vertical cover just in front of the door.Behind there you will find a small box
with speaker wire terminals.Use the hand book to find out which one goes where.Hope this helps.

What do you mean rear speaker wire? In this case we were talking about the Cargo version, which doesn't have rear speakers, just dash speakers and a place to fit door speakers... Unless there is a place for rear speakers in the van I don't know about :p

Thanks for that.
I had found the plug at the bottom of the 'A' pillar by taking off various bits of trim. Checked the wiring connector at the back of the radio to find out which are the door/rear speakers wires and which side. Tried to thread the new speaker wire into the door. Stopped by the plug and decided to mount speakers on the Bulkhead taking the easyway out. Now making speaker boxes. (y)

Ignore my last comment then... Isn't that a bit backwards having the connections there though as you have to effectively "double back" on the wiring to get back round to the flexi grommet going into the door.

Oh well must just be me :p

Re: Cargo speaker wiring, still at it!!**@^"*

 Still working on speakers in the door of my van.
Have one speaker mounted and connected on the passenger side, wires are already there from the radio connector to the base of the door pillar.

The wires for the drivers side speakers are there at the radio connector but I can't see where they go. Down into the back and beyond of the dash obviously. I did thread about six miles of wire down at the back of the radio binical, but couldn't see it anywhere, guess it went to Italy. No it's not driving me insane.

How do I get the bloddy dash off? Can of petrol and a match?

I never got passed the wiring door plug, unplugged it but can't see the one female end in the door, unless I take the door off. I guess it was fitted before the window guides. Probably to stop me geting the damn thing out.

hi there,

did you ever find were de cables where going ???

greets relf

I realise this is a really old post but I recently bought a Doblo Cargo JTD 2005 and am converting it into a surf wagon (Of sorts!).

However this meant I needed some tastey sounds so I set about finding some info on how to fit rear speakers. THERE WAS NONE!!!

I can confirm though that I found both the left and the right rear speaker loom finishes in the passenger footwell, under the bit of plastic along the sill. Undo two screws and pull the plastic part off from near under the glove box. Pull it out from anywhere else or twist it and it will break the fixing underneeth. Hindsight is a wonderfull thing!!

Blue & Yellow = Right +
Blue (and another colour, can't remember) = Right -
Orange & Black = Left +
Orange & Green = Left -

Hope this infor helps someone out in the future.
