Hi

They could all just "do this" but I have noticed that unless I have the heater in my doblo (54 plate) van perhaps 2/3 the way around to full heat, I don't really get any noticeable warmth through the vents. Even on full heat I wouldn't describe the air coming through as "hot"

The temp needle is usually around the middle of the gauge once warmed up, sometimes a little below. I am not used to where the needle should point once fully warmed up.

I know from owning other cars this might be the thermostat but it simply might be a character of the car. Interested to hear how the heaters work in other JTD powered doblos. If mine are lacking in comparison then I need to start thinking of what might be up.

I have the program for ECUmultiscan but haven't tried setting it up on my windows 10 tablet yet. I admit I don't even know where the Doblo OBD is

Mines plenty hot enough (Cargo, no bulkhead) and my gauge is around mid way as well.
Are you sure you're getting enough air through it? When was the last time you took the wipers off and lifted the black panel under the windscreen? When I did mine it was like a compost heap under the black covers :p
.
Could be yours is as bad and the airway in is a bit blocked?

It's worth doing anyway, to grease the spindles of the wipers ;)

The blower is blowing fine - on speed 4 its loud enough to be quite annoying. Just not got the temperature. Think I might have to attempt to install the program. I think I have the right cable from remapping my Skoda Fabia. :)

Thanks for OBD port pointer Mr Sinny

See if you can get a temperature from it using a thermometer and post it. Do it on the defrost vent in the middle and I'll see if I can find a thermometer and post mine.

No worries ;)

I just did a thermometer by putting my hand over the vent :)

I just know on full heat my Fabia (also a 1.9 diesel) is very hot indeed.

I am not sure what actually controls the heat so to speak which is why I did wonder if the engine was running colder than it should - I'd hate if it was because I know this means its not as economical as it should be - although I have not noticed any real drop in economy, considering its winter and does short journeys most of the time.

I love it when you talk technical ;)

:D

Could be the thermostats stuck, or it needs a flush and the heater core is a bit clogged. If you cant be living with it, I'd change the thermostat and back-flush it while I was at it. That way you'll know it's as good as it gets.

I think I will give it to my tame mechanic to be honest

I am an accountant / car detailer and only a hobby mechanic really. I may have a root around in the engine bay just to try and familiarise myself, but I know the Fabia PD TDI engine much better. I also have VCDS for the Fabia which is a lovely diagnostics tool, but I am totally clueless with multiecuscan

These are the cables I have:-

Blind leading the blind I'm afraid  Hopefully someone else will be able to help?

Water level OK ??

Yeah - To be honest, I might simply have been thinking something was wrong that wasn't. On a longer trip I tried cranking up to 100% heat, and pointed it in my face, and it was pretty warm indeed.

I therefore am not worrying about it anymore (y)
