Hi Guys,

Not been on here for a loooooong time.

Mrs_G's 1.9 jtd sx cargo is still going. For the past couple of years its only been doing a few hundred miles each week taking her to and from work since she quit being a courier and went back into accounts.

Recently I took on a new customer who sometimes asks me to transport loads that are way too small to justify using my XLWB Iveco Daily and so I pinch the Doblo and Mrs_G takes the Volvo V70 to work.

The Doblo has had a session in the local garage recently - gearbox bearings, 5th gear, clutch, new front brakes & wheel bearings. Not cheap but I felt it better to invest in the Doblo than get rid and buy something else which could turn out to be worse.

It still runs very well and gives excellent fuel consumption. (Measured 53mpg over a 520 mile journey - 61mpg shown on the dash).

Then last week I took it for its MOT. The tester was very gentle on the engine rev test (I was standing within 3ft of him) and it passed with flying colours.

However, since the 'Government Enforced Engine Abuse' the engine now refuses to run smoothly. When cruising there is the sensation that the van goes from 4 cylinders onto '3.5' cylinders and then back to 4. It feeling like it is being held back and then released then held back. If given a boot full of right foot it pulls like a train.

I'm no expert but I guess that being rev'd much harder than usual, while being MOT'd, some crap has become dislodged and is now messing with the fuelling. Hoping for a simple fix I filled it with Shell V Power diesel and a bottle of Redex diesel. Having run that through it's still the same.

I've booked the old girl (van not Mrs_G) into the local diesel specialist for diagnosis on Saturday morning.

I'll report back after.

Any thoughts before then gratefully received.
