Unhappy Problems fitting Bravo Calipers

I can't get my calipers on!

I've got Bravo 1.8HLX calipers, pads and discs to go on my Cinq but it's not happening.

The discs are definately right, I've measured them and they're 20mm thick. They fit, no problems.

The problem is, with the brake pads in the calipers the distance between them is 18mm

I've got a horrible feeling my calipers are not 1.8 hlx ones, they came from my local scrappy (i've since had them painted and refurbed so no refunds...) who are a bunch of muppets tbh.

I've got some pics of one of the calipers, plus I've measured them up so was just wondering if anyone could confirm what brakes I actually have, they look just like other pics I've seen of GT/Bravo calipers....

BTW they are much redder in real life

Re: Problems fitting Bravo Calipers

Just to add, the discs and pads are RED DOT fast road stuff. The pads are 18mm thick.

Excellent, I've been thinking that.

I sent them off to a company called Bigg Red to be refurbed and they came back like that. Think they need pushing in back more? How do I do that?? The piston sticks out 13mm from the caliper (told you I had measurements!).

Re: Problems fitting Bravo Calipers

Should just push back shouldn't it? Maybe take the bung off the nipple thing to let air escape.

If you don't mind me asking, you got details and prices for the refurb? I'd need to do the same when I get mine

Re: Problems fitting Bravo Calipers

Looks like the piston just needs pushing back -- block of wood and a G cramp.

They look right. If they still won't fit, I suspect that the calipers for the non-vented disks are different.

Re: Problems fitting Bravo Calipers

Thanks for the advie ppl, I'll have a go at pushing it in tomorrow.

My car will soon be ready to go back on the road once these and the new radiator are on. I've been driving a Metro for the last 3 months and it's not fun

Re: Problems fitting Bravo Calipers

They are ATE ones and look the same as mine (except mine are siver )

you do need to get the piston right back to get the pads in

Also I presume you have the springs?

Re: Problems fitting Bravo Calipers

Are the bravo calipers a bolt for bolt swap? And will they improve braking much?

Cheers
