OBD2 on seicento

Hi guys. I have a 99 Seicento Sport Abarth (witch I assume is a SPI), and as you guys all know it doesn't come with a temp gauge.
So I learned about the eml327 and wanted to get one to be able to read some parameters on the car.
So I searched for the obd 2 port and couldn't find it. Its not under the dash or anywhere inside the car. So I searched on the internet and found out that my car as a 3 pin adaptar on the engine bay. So i bought an adapter from ebay, a 3 pin to 16 pin adapter for Fiat, Alfa and Lancia.
Then I bought the adapter the eml 327. When they arrived I got on to instaling them.
So what I did was, I cut the power wires from the 3 pin to 16 pin adapter and extended them, because it didn't reached.
Then I connected the eml327, and instaled the torque pro app on my phone.
I connected the bluetooth and paired the device. And got nothing. The app says that it can't connect to the ECU.
Is it not compatible? Does anyone tried doing it and worked?

Re: OBD2 on seicento

Hi,
The old 3 pin interface is not OBDII compatable. It is not even a standard protocol. At a hardware level it is compatable with the KL interface, but it will not work with an ELM 327 as it has the interface protocol hard coded. To talk to the Sei you need a windows laptop, "dumb" VAG-COM type KL to usb interface and Multiecuscan.
Your current set-up will not work.

Re: OBD2 on seicento

It might not work with a mobile version of Torque? People use multiecuscan on a laptop.

Sounds like you did everything right plugging it in. Was the ignition on?

I have only tried the Bluetooth obd2 and torque app with a 93 fiat tipo (3 pin plug)... and it didn't work...

The obd2 port on my 01 mpi Seicento however does work. I have an Autel Maxiscan 309

Re: OBD2 on seicento

I see. So is there a way to read the ECU with an app on my phone? Or is it only with a laptop?

Only with a laptop for the 3 pin interface as far as I'm aware.
All the phone apps rely on a smart interface (ELM327 or similar) to do the hard work. The Interface is a bit like a MODEM that takes the raw signals and protocol on the bus and turns it into plain text. They don't talk the "language" of the 3 wire connection so the computer has to do all the work. There are plenty of people doing fancy skins and graphics front ends, but not many who understand the raw data. This is more true when dealing with what is essentially an undocumented interface in the case of the 3 pin Fiat diagnostic port.
