I know it's only done 16k and looks mint but £2500?

Is it an indication of where the prices for these little cars are going or just a chancer trying thier luck?

Where do we all think prices for these little Italian motors are currently and where do we think they are going?

Any thoughts?

I think someone's a tad pissed with that price imo, and even if i was going to spend that much on an 899 cinq i'd very much rather save myself a grand and have this lovely early L reg with black dash ect http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1993-L-FI...798221?hash=item58efe3af4d:g:YSgAAOSwCU1YolLk
Yeah.
I do think they will be going for that sort of money someday but we are a fair few years away from that day at the moment.

I also believe we are at the bottom of the curve and for good examples the prices will only go up in value. On a weekly basis they are getting stripped, scrapped and written off as well.

Just look at 126 prices over the last few years!

I'll agree with you to an extent on that clean sporting examples yeah maybe, but on the other hand I'd personally say my sportings clean with only one small carpark ding and a door and I still only paid 350 for that the prices are always up and down there does seem like a high demand for sporting as of late

It seems that the Cinq scene/market is all over the place. Up down, interest, no interest.

It's all a bit strange to me as to be honest I'm a bit more used to the classic mini market which is very consistent and predicable.

But I do believe any retro small fiat is not only going to be fun to own but as long as you buy right and look after it you're never going to go wrong or lose cash.

Could possibly see bit of a price rise next month as there is a feature including the sporting in next months Modern Classics Magazine

looks good, and the milage is right, but it would have to be a sporting to get that kind of price. 1 owner and a fiat history would boost it.

i think all cinq's will go up in price over the next 3/4 years.

great thing is there a much more useable car than the cars that came before it,the 500 and 126,both are hard work to drive, and sadly slow.

a good cinq,even 899cc is a good allrounder.

here in ireland there numbers are low,i travel alot around ireland, and the number of every day drivers is low,id see around 2 a week.

there are a few irish collectors who have 8 to 10 of them at a time.

ive got 3 cinq's ,i buy any that are cheap and in good to exellent order.

i picked up a 97 cinq s 899cc with 29k on the clock,black,seat covers from new,and body and paint id rate 8/10 for 50euro with 1mth tax and 5mth mot/nct.

so they are out there, and there small so you can buy them up,and dont take up much room.

i remember owning to orignal fiat 500's back in 86, as a 14yr old, played with them, doing the points, cleaning the carbs out etc.

i remember i got them for 10pounds each, and in 1987,i had to dump them to get rid of them, nobody wanted them, and they were in good cond.

the same cars 30yrs on are going for 5/6/7/8k.

the cinq's are over half way there to the 30yrs, its a personal choice to buy now use it,care for it and hopefully see the prices rise and maybe make a return in the end???

seicentos will have there day also.

thats my input ended you will be glad to hear:)

cinqs will go up but its a way off that kinda money - classic pandas are on the increase but even they aren't that high yet. OK maybe if you found a perfectly straight 16k miles one but really its only the desireable models like sisleys that command high prices. My panda is very good condition for a panda but i only paid 450 for it.

There is always gonna be people out there trying to make a quick buck - afterall there maybe some mad person that buy it even if they are utterly mad.

Thing is, you may have a really really nice original car and you may get good money for it but you'd have to wait for the right person to come along and your patient. They aren't that old and desirable yet even if they are getting thin on the ground. Stuff ultimately is worth what someone will pay, i suspect that one will be for sale for a long long time unless they drop price significantly. If you got a super clean one I think you are gonna have to lock it away in dry storage for a fair few years before someone will pay that much for one.

Before the dealer bought this car it was for sale at Morris Leslie's Auction at Errol, near Perth.

I went and had a look at it, mileage seems genuine enough, it's very very clean, particularly the engine bay. However something didn't quite look right on it, couldn't quite put my thumb on it. Paint didn't quite seem the match, almost as if it had had a quick re-spray or something.

Had small blistering in the rear arches, not excessive or anything to worry about yet mind, but it's the start of the corrosion. There was also a fairly big rip/wear in the drivers seat bolster, which again seemed a bit odd with it's low mileage in my opinion. Also when we MOT checked it, it only had something like 5 years of history available which also seemed a bit odd.

Was going to put a bid on it at the auction but the starting bid was something like £800 and eventually sold for £1,300.

Was in very good shape but not worth £2500, was a little shocked that it went for £1,300
