had a slightly iffy speedo cable for a while.
the other day it broke so bought a replacement.

fitted it today and it was making a god awful noise, like a scraping. found the cable was the cause. the inner makes a scraping noise against the outer.

to try and solve this, i put the original outer cable back with the new inner. the issue is improved, but still not as it should be.

my question is, does anyone know of any decent brand speedo cables that i can aim to look for as the one i got was clearly very poor

Pissed about this morning with some more lube. Also found the cable sitting against the steering column support where it comes through the bulkhead which transmits quite a bit of sound through it. Shoved a rag in there and now all I can hear is a very slight whirring from the cable.

Hopefully it will all bed it and be ok now!

i copied the exact same run the original cable had. its pretty straight other that the bend as it goes round the blower into the bulkhead, but it isnt that bad tbh.

as i said, old outer and new inner and its heaps better. just a ballache job as its fiat everything breaks as soon as you look at it :bang:
