Hi folks
I know theres a mine of information here about fitting a 1.2 or 1.4 in a seicento, but what have ff mebers recently had to shell out to finish the project.
Im thinking of buying a donor punto, so its the extra costs over that im thinking about.
Mechanically ill take anything on, but my knowledge of problem solving with electronics is poor, so what related issues did your conversion need sorting.
I just need a bit more power for autotesting, not a mega car. Cheers.

Is it literally a straight swap? Does the sei gearbox fit? With the punto clutch and everything? Do I need the punto down pipe?

8v or 16v?
Sei or Cinq as base car?
Sei SPI or MPI?

Do you want to do anything else to the engine or is it just a case of what's the base cost of whacking in a 16v over a weekend and how to wire it in?

Assuming it's a Sei MPI:
If it's a simple engine swap and assuming you do all the work all you really need is -
16v engine & flywheel - could be a mk1 or a mk2.
[Mk2 cylinder heads have different stud patterns for exhaust mani]
[mk1 you can use the inlet manifold and exhuast manifold with minimal effort]

mk1 16v inlet manifold
suitable throttle body (older style cable operated)
suitable exhaust system (including manifold)
Mates straight up to the standard gearbox.

Wire up the injectors and coil (half a dozen wires and not too difficult)
[wiring assumes a sei mpi as a base]

Total cost anywhere from £150 -£1000s
£150 would assume a breaker mk1 engine and any other bits you find you need as you go along.
Of course you should also consider the fact it would be an unknown engine and this doesnt take into account any service items it would require.

Plus a heavier engine and more power changes the dynamics of the car, so lots of other supporting mods would be required.

Plus if you want to use this for Autotests and are bound by the MSA bluebook, engine swaps are often a no no or puts you in a class you'll never be competitive in.

I'm doing the spi version seicento 1242 8v spi swap from a punto 60.. engine cost me 250 euro. I did change rings and all seals and packings. Gives me a more reliable engine. The more you do the more the cost goes up.

Gearbox fits, engine mounts fit, most of it plug and play. Fun build i'm having a blast. Monday it will be done and i'll make a project thread
