Tuning 1.2 8v swap

Finally got round to stripping the engine, apart from everything needing a clean and the possibility of the block needing a small skim all looks good, biggest problem was when removing the crank no1 piston hadn't dropped off the and got pulled out the wrong way.
No scoring on the crank so possibly a slight re grind not sure yet though. Everything I need to rebuild has been ordered (minus small ends due to being over £100 each).
Forgot to picture the crank ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1414881680.916512.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1414881708.259701.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1414881725.215030.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1414881747.135086.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1414881772.547416.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1414881802.283737.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1414881821.911300.jpg
Everything nice and tidy in boxes:)

Genuine fiat parts arrived yesterday, including big ends for a 5 cylinder, gaskets and seals, piston rings/oil rings but no main bearings. Anybody know how to id main bearing because there's 3 options red, blue, yellow.
On another note block did need a skim of 3thou, crank pulley broke so unable to balance the crank until that arrives.

As always any help appreciated.

Not much happened in the past week apart from cleaned and started painting the block, the engineer who's doing the tricky lightening has been a tad ill ( or has been in hospital for some other reason).
Finally managed to figure out which main caps to use.
Still looking at camshafts but most likely to be a re-profilled cam. Nothing else happening this week from being off work + no funds for a while from a new tattoo.
But if anyone knows of any other cams or other parts it'd be much appreciated.

Question for some of the more experienced modifiers;
Apart from the inlet manifold stud patterns being different, any other differences between the SPI and MPI heads e.g Exhaust stud pattern.
If there isn't any other differences, how much trouble is it to modify the SPI manifold to fit?

I'm getting lost here.

If you've an SPI ECU, it makes sense to use an SPI head.

MPI and Mk2 Puntos have the same exhaust studs as the SPI cars, but both the studding and port shape are different on the inlet side. It should be possible to use a P75 inlet mani and an SPI TB and ECU simply by blanking off the injector holes, but this would almost certainly fail Euro 3 (MPI Sei, etc.) emissions.

Sorry fingers,
For got to mention I have a spare head off the P60 engine (which is mpi) and it would save the car from being of the road for too long if I were to get the head reworked professionally. Because the ports are a lot better on that head than mine, it looks like Fiat changed their method of casting and the ports are a much smoother base for polishing that's all.
I was just thinking for convenience really didn't mean to confuse anybody.

Sorry for the lack of an update,
Been a quiet 2 weeks or so apart from went and bought the fast road cam from c&b.
But the car developed a problem this morning making me have to run to dads to borrow his car for a while which made me late for work (nice run to wake up though). Hopefully just something was left on (not likely due to both doors being locked and the radio can be on for 3days and still start) but all in the fun of cars.
Still waiting on crank and flywheel to be brought back to me too build the bottom end up.
Still have to strip the old doors down for the electric windows and central locking so might do that to keep busy.

Ordered a 40mm t.b from sparky5 and turned up earlier today. Fitted it and now no longer have a high idle from start up. Old doors stripped new door skins delivered and one door now with electric windows :) ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1419092620.568268.jpg

Been awhile since the last update, health issues have made some bits hard but MOT is due next month, should fly through (hopefully). Flywheel has been lightened and balanced should get everything back mid next week now. Still waiting on the C&B cam though starting to get frustrated.

Time for an update I suppose.
Good things;
She passed the MOT with flying colours, although a comment was made for the temporary headlight alignment fix (cable tied to the correct setting).
Crank and bits and pieces will be back tomorrow along with a new honing tool.
Sump has been cleaned up and will be painted.
1 of the lads I work with bought a brava/bravo which he sold the engine but does run 14inch wheels so I will be pinching the brakes from it as long as they will fit.
Bad things;
Still no cam so going to be enquiring about that tomorrow because they are starting to take the mick :mad:.
Car has developed a slight hesitation when under load however wouldn't run correctly on the way back from Cardiff, changing the fuel filter made it better but not perfect any suggestions appreciated.

So if Gazzella turn around and say that the cam will be with me in April/May time I will have to fit it at a later date as I want the engine in for Brooklands /Stanford Hall.

On a side note does the cam need a vernier pulley to run or is it possible to have the cam on the original cam pulley?

Vernier and set up on dyno would be best, but I think it'll run on standard settings. C & B should provide clearances and settings.

Hesitation could be Lambda going sleepy (see if ECU re-learns, though). MAP, fuel pressure. But I'd wait and see.

Gazella have rather patchy reputation on delivery times, but this could be waiting for C & B to do a batch.

This is exactly what i have heard, you either get lucky and are one of the last to order before a batch or your aren't and are one the first and can end up waiting ages and ages... Good luck!!

had my schewy done 2 years ago ,after 1108 went bang , 8v 1242 mpi p60 loads off low down torque , still not got round to fitting the p75 cam and a mpi 40mm throttle body .

might sell the whole car now and bits ?

Well the people at gazzella didn't want to speak to me as I rang 3 or 4 times on friday and got no answer within the specified times that they say they are open, so I have ended up querying through their website to try and find out some form of information about where it is.

I gave the pistons a quick clean this afternoon to remove some of the staining on them and they look almost brand new from the top (sorry they're sideways can't be bothered to edit them).

Found some nice rear tailing arms on the 'Bay :D, so hopefully get them cleaned, get rid of the old paint/little rust and paint them ready to go on the car. The basket is looking to be a bit much with only few things in it but they are all required.

Anyone got a link or know where I could get this 90 degree elbow that's required for the oil pressure sensor as I'm having trouble finding one?

Treated the Sei to a quick clean after going down a stinking filthy farm lane 3 times this week and noticed that some of the paint has started to come of the bumper so whilst it's off the road it will be sent back to the sprayer to be done again and sort out some of the stone chips.

And purchased some fiatforum stickers as well :)
