Hey peeps,

This is annoying me a little bit, I'll fitted a after market steering wheel with a spacer in the middle and fitted a set of recaro (very low down).

The result is nice seats, good round coners but the steering wheel is just too high for my liking!

Is there any easy way to lowering the steering wheel?

Thanks
Ming

IIRC a friend of mine loosened the screws under the console and lowered the column by fitting a few washers. I haven't checked it out myself, though and it's sort of a vague memory, lol.

I haven't looked yet (it's dark!) but I'd be considering extending the U shaped bracket that holds the wheel. Some competent welding would be in order plus making sure there is no strain on the ujs in the column, but that's how any hot rodder would do it.

Good post Ming, i was going to ask this myself soon as the new 300mm wheel combined with the Recaro bucket is just too low, once you have tried the spacers let us know how you get on, you can be the guineapig he he

Remember the wiring, cowling, etc will all be pulled a bit out of kilter.

Also to get a decent drop, I think the spacer idea may make the colomn a bit wobbly.

I have no dash at the mo and was looking at this very thing today, as I have just got some cobra seats.

We lowered the steering column in our Cinq by not only using spacers, but also making a small brace welded into the Upside down U shaped section of bulk head it bolts to as it fairly thin and there's play in it made worse when you extend the steering column down effectively making it a lever to exert more force.

Don't think we have pictures but if i remember I'll take some.
