im still wondering iff there is a Power Boost Valve for a fiat cinq??

Ive seen these for sale in many car magazines but never listed for a cinq.

So my question is, is there one made for a cinquecento? has any1 got one in there car and where would i get one from?

Sorry for all the questions!!

cheers

They can be used to good effect on n.asp cars but they are fitted in between the the TB and brake master cylinder.

Don't know too much about them, search the punto secton for some stories regarding them going wrong.

I think they only really work properly with Turbo's do they not?

Hopefully Pete will be along soon.Lol (y)

From the application list there are more N/A cars quoted than turbo cars, but in a way you are right because as standard many if not all turbo cars have a similar device fitted anyway I think this is because of the massive fluctuations in air pressure due to the turbo & therefore the valve changes the amount of fuel needed, I asked the guy who owns K-tec racing if I should fit one to the 5 Turbo & he said not to bother as it already had a similar system as standard fit (& he's a listed stockist so could have just sold me it anyway) & unless that breaks then no need :)

NOt had any experience of them tho

Application list here, no Cinq's quoted!

Cool, I would have liked one of those to complement the integrale, but I'm happy with the Cinq Turbo.

When I bought the Cinq I took it into Auto Integrale and gave Keith the owner a shot to see what he thought, he was impressed & after having a good look around under the bonnet said it looked like the system was similar to the set up in the Y10 although with a Garret T15 rather than the IHI on the Y.

I'm sure I've said on here before but have you seen Trevor Nicosia's site http://www.nyssa.ltd.uk/Y10/ (not updated in a while) with info on his Yintegrale, I spoke with him at Brooklands as he had his Kappa race car http://www.nyssaracing.com/k_20040502.php there which is prepared/sponsored by Keith at Auto Integrale & he hopes to have it ready for the London 2 Brighton run next Sep. that should be fun

The power boost valve works on MPi engines with a fuel rail. In normal operation there is a vacuum operated valve at the end of the fuel rail, when the throttle is shut the vacuum opens the valve and lets the fuel that is sitting in the rail under pressure, go back to the tank.

When the throttle is pressed again, the fuel pressure has to build up before the injectors have a full head of fuel behind them This can lead to a hesitation before full power is available.

A power boost valve controls the pressure in the rail better, allowing for a more instantaneous resumption of power.

As the Cinq, and early Seis are low pressure systems, this modification is not suitable.

Yeah spoke to trevor and took some pics at brooklands....

Trevors normally where I source my parts from.Lol
I think at some point he has owned all the Y10 turbo's still running.Lol

My mate has a power boost valve on his 1.0 litre corsa

But for the cinq> if ur running 1108> i'd just pop a 1242 throttle body on> does make a difference> mines going like a rocket!

So is it easy to get a 1242 throttle body on a cinq then? whats needed and that?
The full throttle body from a Punto60. Make sure you get the gasket too. this is the bit that goes between the butterfly and the inlet manifold. It's a bolt for bolt swap and makes a definate difference when hammering it!

So if i went to my local fiat breakers and ask for a throttle body from a 1242 Punto60 and the gasket they will know what im going on about and can sort it out for me.

Would it be better to get a garage to fit it for me or is it an easy job to do yourself?

cheers

Ps have you got any pictures?

Fiat will no doubt charge you through the neck, if you aren't to handy with a spanner it could be a tricky job, get a mate to help if you go for it.

I doubt a Fiat dealer would have anything to do with it, product liability and all that.

Also

Its not a gasket as such thats needed, its the black coloured spacer that goes twixt throttle body and manifold that you need to get. Gaskets of the thin paper variety would be a good idea either side of the spacer and should be available from Fiat. You need the Black spacer as the hole through the spacer is the same size as the throttle body. There is no benefit to fitting the larger throttle body if you leave the smaller hole from the Brown spacer.
