Here is another fuel tank related question, when I first got the Cinq i filled the tank to full and it piddled petrol everywhere, but couldn't find where it was escaping from. (I didn't know about the fule pump cover then) When I finally got round to checking where the fuel was coming from it was coming from a pipe that comes off the front drivers side of the tank it is a small metal pipe that has a rubber pipe attached with a jubilee clip and it is coming from around the rubber pipe and joint. The Haynes manual doesn't seem to mention it. I suspect it is some form of breather pipe but i would like clarification. Also the tank is very rusty, has anybody else successfully got the tank changed free from fiat under the recall on a 93 Cinq. ( l live in the Grimsby area but work in Lincoln). If i can get it done how long does it take for them to do.

thanks in advance

Not 100% sure difficult to see but i think it's the rubber hose that may be split as the petrol seems to track forward towards the fuel tank. If it is the hose i'm guessing that the tank will have to be removed to replace the rubber hose. If so can it still be connected when the tank is dropped or do you have to disconnect it before. It doesn't seem to be mentioned in the Haynes manual.

If it's the hose then all you have to do is find the other end and pull it out (after you disconnected the clamp at each end of the hose).

If you have a new hose, tape it securely to the end of the old one, before you pull the old one out. That'll pull the new one through and save you having to take the tank out or dismantle too much.

Be gentle, so you don't snag the new pipe.

Fit new clips at each end, so they're new for next time you need to undo them. If you have some Blue Hylomar, put a dab on the threads before you tighten them up, as it will stop them vibrating loose over time.
