Hi folks,

What length wheel studs do I need for a CC Sporting so that I can use them with both standard sporting alloy rims and standard cinq steel rims (ones I will get for my winter tyres)? so that they do not stick out too much on the steel rims. Also, anything particular I need to know about the nuts? I am a bit ignorant when it comes to rim related stuff... And, almost forgot, what kind of thread lock for this? I know Loctite is the brand, they have some numbers and stuff, which one?

Cheers,

Woj

Edit: one last thing: correct me if I am wrong, the thread is M12x1.25?

Thread lock, I use the locktite in a stick form, like a lipstick.

I used to use the liquid, but its a bit messier and seemed to give way easier. If you use liquid, they do standard thread lock and a stud lock (blue and red respectively).

I don't have the numbers to hand, either will do, but as said I prefer the lipstick style.

Nuts...if you are running 2 sets of wheels, get 12mm 1.25, open ended, 60 degree seat.

If you get closed ended, you may not be able to fit your steels.

Lengths, afraid i can't help you. I got long ones and cut them to the exact length with a hacksaw, but as i run spacers, my lengths will be different to yours.

Just get 80mm exposed and reduce to fit (y)

Cheers,

Kristian

Thanks Kristian, I was afraid some cutting would be involved. I asked about the thread lock, cause a well educated person told me once it's not so simple if you want to do it right. Some locks are heat resistant, some are air gun resistant, ideally I would need one that would be both, that is, to undo it one would need both heat and air gun. But then one the other hand, it would be probably impossible to undo it with home tools. That's why I am researching the subject a bit...

Cheers,

Woj

Here's an idea for you, why don't you get a wheel bolt and measure the amount of thread exposed at the back of the wheel, do this for both the alloy and the steel wheel. Then go out and buy 4 spacers of the right width :D

When I bought studs, I found this

38mm exposed length is too short for the rear

48mm exposed length I think would be better

58mm exposed length should be enough for all round aslong as you run OE spec wheels.

58mm I found was hard to get, 68mm was the best available but as kritip says they need cut (Kristian got mines after some kind man killed my cinq before I could fit them)
