Hi guys, I've been knocking about this forum since about September now. I thought it was time to make my own thread following my cars progress. I've seen a few other threads of members documenting their cars modifications and though it was a cool idea.

I have the 1.6 Multijet Dynamic Eco. I didn't do much research. I wanted a car that was fuel efficient as I do a lot of miles. A diesel seemed the way to go. I saw the Bravo and thought "thats a nice looking car and you don't see many about". It had eco in its name and was going for a fair price so that seemed to fit the bill.... and off I drove..... or should that be stalled.
I always stall this car, no idea why. I jump in many different work cars and I've never had this problem before? Even now after driving it for months I am prone to the occasional embarrassment at traffic lights or a junction :bang:

I don't regret buying it though. It is a nice car, its a good all rounder.
I never thought about any 'mods' before discovering this forum. What can I say... I guess you guys inspired me.
My car knowledge is pretty diabolical. Hopefully I learn something along the way.

So first thing I'm doing is tinting the windows. Nothing spectacular I know, as I guess a lot of yours came with factory tinted glass.
I've a K&N air filter to fit. Eyebrows for the headlights. I want a remap and I'm sorting some 18" alloys.
Pics to follow :)

Hi mate.

Regarding the engine stalling,
Does that happen all the time or just when the car is cold?
Do you let the car warm a bit and then go off?
It's probably just a matter of getting used to the car, but if i were you i'd check for problems with the clutch and EGR, and also remove the dpf

Worse when cold but still stalls easily when warm. The other half says the same aswell so it's not just me.
It does feel a little under powered but I wasn't expecting much from a 105 anyway.

I wouldn't know how to check the clutch or EGR for problems. It's something I could bring up at the next service.
Speaking of it though I have been looking into dpf and egr removal already. Maybe unlock a little extra power.

Does the car idle ok? Or does it hunt?

Is the power variable, especially around town?

Hunt? Sorry, I'm a car mong.
I only really use it for long runs. one thing I have noticed...
sometimes (often) after coming from a long run on the motorway and I go onto slower roads. Say if am coming up to traffic at a junction so I decided to crawl up to it, say in 2nd gear. Clutch up no gas. The car should pull itself along at a steady speed just fine, right? Every other car I ever drove would.
But this car will judder and splutter and feel like its going to stall so I gear down into first and apply a little gas.

This doesn't happen on every journey though, it picks and chooses when. I could sort of understand it if the car was cold or something but this is after 200+ miles on the motorway. :(

Try some redex injector cleaner.

And fill up with some premium fuel. Should fix the issue and you also notice an increase in MPG.

report back.

Hi Mike.

You should expect better performace from your Bravo, I have a 105 Sport without DPF and i've also drove the PurO2 Edition with DPF, and mate, it is better than most untuned vehicles with the same CC and better than some with more CC.
My dad has a Citroen C5 Sport tourer, 2.2 Diesel with 170 HP, and my Bravo eats it alive...(I know the C5 is eavier but still...)
Obviously the C5 has more top speed, but it can't catch me until i reach 200 km/h.

So, if you do long runs (assuming you bought a used Bravo and do not know its history) the worst case cenario is that you have both EGR and DPF full of junk, due to the fact that the car used to make small runs in the past.

But it can also be the clutch giving its soul to the creator, although if it were the cluch you should notice in other gears..

How many KMs does your car have by now? how many were made by you?

If it happens only when you run bellow 1500rpm/2000rpm I guess it's probably just the EGR filled with junk, just ask for a refurbish/replace for a new one (refurbish should be just fine, if you do long runs it shouldn't bother you for some 10000/30000 KM or more, they will just remove it, clean it and put it back again..), or do an EGR delete.

Don't expect to get horsepower with an EGR and DPF delete.. it does not happen, in fact, deleting the DPF teoretically should reduce top speed, but trust me it's worth it, it makes a lot of diference because what happens is that you'll get that brute force from the binary sooner and for that you'll also get more mpg.

What's your current average consumption? that should tell a lot as well, in long runs if you do more that 5.5 then it's too much, it should be doing less.. in small runs it should be around 6..6.5...7.. depending on you foot..lol

Yes do that as well, very very important.. you should do that once in a while no matter what car you have...

Be careful, read the instructions on the bottle, don't go ahead and pour the entire bottle on the tank..

Actually already in the process of this now. Seen Redex at Asda and thought I would give it a try. I then filled up with Shell V-Power.
I've not made an trips since coming back from Asda so hopefully on the next run I will see an improvement.

When I used redex, I used it when my fuel light was on, I drove it for 5mins then filled it up with the premium fuel.

Otherwise keep an eye on ur MPG it should increase, also give ur car abit of high revs to clear out any soot built up in the exhaust. around 2500rpm.

Interesting read :)
I think it could possibly be a clogged EGR by what you say.

I bought the car last August it is a 2009 and had only done 22,000 miles. Which isn't a lot for a 5 year old car. I guess it was probably used for short journeys to the shop and back.
It is now at 33,000 miles.
Average consumption between Leeds and London between 55-60 MPG. I don't know what is average for these cars.

A DPF delete sound like the way to go. I'm not bothered about top speed but a little more punch lower down sounds great! I'll look into it.

;)

After doing the DPF delete you should also hear the turbo noise louder than usual, it's how this car should sound like from the start, you'll enjoy it more.

55..60 MPG seems about right, i've converted to Litre (which is my unit of measure) and its okay 5.1 and 4.7 it's good average for long runs.

This means, that the DPF is working properly, if it were clogged up you would get less mpg (30 .. 35 .. 40), in any case, get rid of it if you can.

Without DPF around town my Bravo does between 43 and 50 MPG
In highway/national roads it does 63MPG

I have this car so I'm interested to hear if you can make it any quicker or fuel effiecient

Windows and lights tinted.
What do you think?...

I think I may have go too dark with the lights. I'm not too sure about them :/
Looking at it now, I think a medium or even a light smoke would of looked better.... I got caught up in the moment. ha
What's the general consensus?
