i have noticed when i come out of 5th or 6th the gear knob doesn't go back to the centre it just sort of sticks in place and i have to force it over, i thought it may be the selector cables but im not sure,, any advice?
happens warm and cold

I have this on mine. It's a common problem that I've not got around to fixing. It could be the cables sticking in the sleeves, though it's more than likely the selector shaft that goes into the gearbox. Moisture get's into the chamber and causes rust to form on the shaft, this then causes the shaft to stick. It's a relatively easy fix. I'll find the link and post here.

Ive fixed it! I got my dad to sit in the car and wiggle the gear stick right and left, while i sprayed wd40 on the link rod just behind the battery because i could see a little rust on the rod (n) held it to the right and sprayed alot and let it go back to the centre, gave it a hard wiggle while more wd40 was sprayed.. after a few minutes it was sorted and its been great (y) hope this helps

Hi, just wanted to put a note up about my gear linkage cables. After my gear leaver started to stick in the cold (would not self centre left to right) it got worse and worse. After taking it to a garage i was quoted a shocking amount of money to replace the cables. Figuring i could live with it until i had time to do it my self i finally got around to looking at it today. It is not the cables! After alot of faffing i was able to separate the cable from the gearbox linkage, and the cables and remote are fine, it would appear that it is the top of gearbox mount. I sprayed alot of wd40 there and wiggled for like 10 min and it has significantly improved. My assumption is that it is corrosion on the long 2"ish pin that the lateral cable is attached to. I would love to get the mech out and clean it up, but everything on this car is so hard to access :-( maybe this will help someone.

This has been happening to mine too after driving it for a while it sort of sticks like you're saying, won't centre from left to right. I'll have a look and do the same we'll see
