Got my gunmetal grey 2008 Dynamic 1.9, 150 multijet last week and been driving around with a smile as big as a Cheshire cat. Loving every minute of it. Every thing worked, Blue and me connected to my phone straight away with no problem, plays music from a USB stick-no problem, fast , responsive, looks brill...................... Set of for work this morning, battery light on, power steering fails, result - buggered alternator, and it's only done 50000.
Worst thing is though, the wife walking around with a smug look on her face saying "Fix It Again Tomorrow"
Still love the car though!!

About the alternator:
If a new unit is to expensive you can try to find a company specialized in reconditioning alternators and starter motors. They can usually recondition an alternator to be as good as new but at a much lower price.

If its in the UK I would be surprised if its not a reconditioned unit. As you say the reconditioned ones are as good as new.

£173 from Euro car parts brand new. Not too unhappy with the price. Had one go in my Grand voyager over £500 and had to be ordered from America!
