Been a while since I had a Fiat and just got me a Bravo 1.6 derv to replace the excellent Renault Megane 1.9 I had.

Had it 24 hours (300 miles) and seems good, all working - 08 Grey/black 65k.

Topped up the coolant, was just below the min.
How are these on coolant?
My previous Fiat (Marea 2.4) was not very good on it and if it went 1mm below min all hell would break lose (never broke tho).

Engine oil - Fully Synth?

Brake squeal - could this be after market pads, or shim needed?

Blue & Me - Ipod. Is there a way to be able to operate via ipod rather than steering controls?

Should do for now.

Edit ! if there is a better way of operating the ipod via steering that would help a lot, its a bit of a joke as it is.

Another question.
Going to give it a oil change
I want a fiat oil filter, apart from dealers, any pointers online?

Glow plugs, anyone recommend somewhere for these also.

Cheers

Shouldnt use any coolant.

You MUST use the oil grade specified in the handbook and not any other as you've a DPF fitted. You must also have to oil degradation counter reset at every oil change.

iPod can only be controlled through the steering wheel controls. I ripped the B&M system out of mine and replaced it as its rubbish.

Cheers
Will look into oil, have used asdas 5-40 fully and that should do.
Seen a half full 1litre bottle of oil in boot!!

How do I reset the counter?

How do I reset the counter?

Does Asda oil meet the correct technical spec? If not you're about to detonate a financial time bomb!

Counter can be reset using MultiECUScan.net software if doing it yourself (y)

Just checked opie oils, they rec 5-30 millers
Also seen Delphi 5-40 at just £26

Need to get a filter sorted and get the oil changed asap

As its midnight, where is the oil filter?
Under tray - easy?
Sump plug - what size?

Cheers

I've not done an oil change on my 1.6 yet, always paid to have it done so not sure where he filter is. If like other Fiats I'd assume the sump plug is a 10/12mm hex key job.

Back to the oil I cannot stress enough how imperative it is to use the right stuff, check the handbook and get the oil it lists with the same SAE specs. If you don't you'll be looking at endless DPF issues!

I've always been dubious of getting the right oil, ie. The most expensive

I've never had a problem, ok I've never had dpf

Anyhoo, oil ordered from opie
Just need to find a fiat place for filters, now i don't use just any of these, always dealer

Bit of a silly reply. The bigger joke is someone judging others by their possesions!
Tbh I only got the iPod as my Honda has a connection for it. I don't do Apple!

Have found its quicker to say 'folders'.

As stated above it is absolutely essential the oil meets the exact specification (not just grade) shown in the book. I have heard disaster stories when people have allowed a garage to put any oil in that may be the same grade but not the same spec. It is worth buying the Selenia oil or the alternative they sell on shop4parts for peace of mind.

I ordered some Millers Oils XF Longlife C2 5w-30 from opie oils
Just got my filters from Fiat, couldn't find this online.

Hoping this oil will do

When did I say get the most expensive

I said get the correct oil to the correct specification as set out in the handbook. Doesn't mean it's the most expensive.

Sorry, wasn't quoting you in my comments, just my thoughts.
Obviously I would get the right oil for the car, not necessarily the same as someone else might use.
