I've just started to have an intermittent problem with not being able to turn the key in the ignition barrel and the brake pedal is very stiff. Last time I took the handbrake off and pushed the car back about a foot got back in and it started again.
Does anyone know if this is the brakes sticking or a problem with the immobilizer?

I have the same problem and after a few minutes of key removal and steering wheel moving it works. Im sure its the steering lock getting stuck on or half on.

It's not the steering lock as I can get the electrics on as far as the glow plugs warming up and the steering moves freely. It also happens very intermittently. The key won't go any further untill several attempts at switching completely off and on again before I can get the engine started.
There is also no problem between the seat and the steering wheel. :slayer:

Hello. I can't say I see the problem you describe but I do know that if I'm over enthusiastic with turning the key on (to the first stop point), then it senses I've already gone further and thinks I've started the engine. It then won't let me go further because it thinks the engine is running and turning the starter motor again would be a very bad idea. I have to turn the ignition off and start again. Now I know about it I think it's a good idea and only perhaps once every 20 starts do I actually turn the key to far. HTH. Phil

I have the same problem , it happened with me 4 times as i remember , but i turn the ignition off and start the car again it starts immediatly
