Just changed from a seat altea to a 2009 bravo, and have noticed the engine seems to be quite noisy, is this normal?
Also is this the new common rail Diesel engine? i thought they were supposed to be quieter it sounds the same as my altea 1.9 tdi .
Another question as im new to Fiat...whats the difference between multijet and Tjet and multijet2? which is the newest?.
So many questions i know, but some advice would be great...thanks in advance.

Multijet is the diesel (2nd gen commonrail, replacing the unijet or jtd engines). Tjet is petrol turbo, currently only 1.4. This will feature multiair tech soon (hopefully on bravo too). Multijet2 is newest and includes a few updates, tweaks etc to make them more efficient. Your 1.6 multijet is multijet2 I believe, like the 2.0 and current 1.3 mjets.

Regarding the noise, that might be down the the insulation in he car. VAG (vw, seat, Audi, skoda) cars are generally quieter inside, but the same outside. This is part of the reason VAG cars are more expensive, the 'premium' feel inside.

The bravo is a little noisy when cold, but is excellent value for money overall.

When was the last time you were in a Polo or Golf they are certainly anything but premium and in the Golfs case noisy and rattly!

Golf mk5 1.9tdi s, yesterday. Our 2nd car is a golf. Definatly more hushed on the inside than my bravo. My old skoda fabia (admittedly petrol), my dads old octavia (1.9 tdi) and superb (2.0 tdi) are all quieter inside as well. Never heard rattle in any of these VAG cars and all were very nicely insulated. Outside is a different story. The 1.9 tdi is noisy.

They are far more expensive to buy used however. Golf is generally around 3k more that a spec for spec bravo and I don't think they are worth it. I was in a jtd stilo the other day and the bravo multijet is an improvement.

Fair enough, I had a 2.0TDi Mk 6 Golf 2 weeks ago for the day as a hire car and it was as noisy if not more so than my Bravo and it certainly had more rattles coming from the windows and facia. My brothers got a Mk5 GTi which is equally as bad, and requires back surgery after use its so stiff!

Strange, would have thought mk6's would be good on refinement. Maybe my bravo is perticularly noisy (1.9 8v). Wind noise, engine and tyre roar seem to be a touch higher than average. Not bad by any means, just not class best.

Having said that, it's the most economical, fastest, best looking and most comfortable low mileage diesel that I could find for the money. Others might be better in other areas or as a whole but not in this or anywhere near this price range.
