Is it true that a NON fiat dealer can service my car and it will still have its warrenty providing the mechanic uses proper fiat parts and does the full procedure. I have come across somwhere the bravo service manual that tells you what is changed and what is checked @ the 18000 mile service

reason I am asking over here in NI they are asking 150 notes to do the first service which I feel is a bit high, saying as we are on the mouth of christmas and santa is on a tight enough budget without forking out for servicing lol

also I was thinking of just getting a friend mechanic to change the oil and filter so the engine is nice untill after christmas then get the full service done even if it does have 20000 on the clock by then. At least the oil will have been changed

Depends.. might be getting goodwill from their independent garage ;)

For the record I got mine serviced at an independent garage at the 18,000 mile service. £130 for the full multijet service including engine oil change (DPF hadn't signalled that it needed doing but for the sake of a filter and a bottle of oil it seemed worth while).

I was under the impression that the 1.9 multijet didnt have a DPF only the new 1.6 multijet has it ?????maybe im wrong. Because i asked the same question on a Biodiesel site and a couple of replys told me the 1.9 didnt have the DPF. It would be good to know coz Im 90% finished building my Biodiesel reactor.......

1.9 16v 150bhp has a DPF.

Bolcocks to that lol...... DPFs and biodiesel dont mix too well they throw up too many engine managment lights

Any of you Fiat bods know what the amount of bio fiat will allow so the car stays withing warrenty i know VW allow 30% mix

Not true, just had mine serviced and no DPF is fitted... which meant the service was more expensive. :-(

The oil service is 18k and activated by dpf. If you have a service and you're only at 9k it is up to you whether you want an oil change or whether you want to leave it until the warning appears. Fiat don't quote oil change prices with the services now so if you have one done then, yes, it is extra.

That is true if you have a DPF fitted unfortunately I don't so they change the oil every 12 months regardless.

I thought dpf was accross the board, I have 150mjet dynamic and as far as I am aware there are no differences between this and the sport mjet 150 engine (mine's june 07)

What is DPF may I ask?
Anyway, just check with one of the Fiat dealer near work and they want 190pounds inc VAT for my Mjet150 18k service, I asked her what is cover, she went: oil change, filter change, then stop for 5 seconds..... check tyre pressure, check ...etc what? so £190 pounds for the oil and filter change, they must be joking!! anyway, will get a few more quote and ask them to match it.

Hi , DPF is a Diesel particulate filter - ''The Diesel Particulate Filter is a mechanical
filter, integral with the exhaust system, that physically traps particulate present in the exhaust gases of diesel engines '' I got this info from page 104 of the handbook.

I also found some info how to identify if your car has a DPF , on page 214 Identification plate which is found on the front crossmember under the bonnet gives info on the body version code which can be identified from the codes given on page 216 . I hope the page numbers are the same with everybody.
