Please Help..

I have Fiat Brava Trofeo 2000 W reg. When I start my engine, it goes into high accelaration ( 30RPM ). It will remain unless I change gear and release clutch slowly.

I was told to change stepper motor. I found stepper motor is a costly item. Hence looking for a cheaper deal.

Can someone advice how to rectify this problem. If I have to replace, Can someone tell me where can I get this ?

Many thanks
Srinu.

Stepper motor as referred to on Peugeot's Citroens is more commonly known as the Idle Control Valve.

Try cleaning yours, there is probably a guide on here somewhere or get one from a breakers. Would not have thought they were that expensive new  ..

if its a 1.6 then it will definately be the idle speed control valve. remove it, then clean it using petrol. This usually sorts the problem out. If this fails to work, you need to replace the air temp sensor, this is to the left of the idle speed control valve (the sensor on the far right of the inlet manifold, closest to throttle body). A scrapyard sensor will do, dont waste moeny on new parts. You can also try a scrapyard idle speed control valve if cleaning yours does not work.
