Hi everyone I'm about to replace the rear shocks and springs on my Brava 1.6 Trofeo, can annyone recommend a good shock/spring combo, and keeping to standard height? I was thinking either Monroe or KYB, both seem reasonably priced on ebay? Thanks for any help:)

ok thanks. I've been quoted £44 delivered for a pair of KYB Excel-G shocks for the rear. Has anyone tried KYB and is this a good price?

Hi, yes I fitted Excel-Gs all round to my Brava a few years ago, they are good value and feel slightly firm or sporty (at least when you first fit them you notice). I'm happy with them, although I like trawling ebay to see if there are any bargain Sachs or Boge units as they are very good too. The "ordinary" Bravas, Bravos and Mareas all seem to take the same shocks unless they are diesels or 2 litre jobs.

I'm not sure if or why you are changing the springs and if KYB or Monroe do them, but if you get a reasonable make of standard height you should be fine. Obviously a lot of people are changing front springs these days because of speed bump damage, so there's plenty of choice...

ok thanks! I'm thinking of changing the springs as I'm getting a knocking noise from the drivers side rear. It sounds as though it's coming quite high up in the spring/shock area, so I was wondering if the top rubber (thrust ring) is worn, or if the very top of the spring is broken. I've had the Brava on a ramp but can't see where it's coming from. Swing arm bushes look ok, damper seems ok, perhaps it's the ARB? (quite alot of the ARB is hidden above the petrol tank). Any ideas would be appreciated on where to look.

Monroe do standard height springs so have a pair of those. Still thinking about the shocks...........
