COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME OUT , I HAVE JUST SERVICED FOR A FRIEND,
'P' REG BRAVA 1.4 12V SX ,
AIR & OIL FILTER , PLUGS ,LEADS,OIL & PETROL FILTER . THE CAR WAS RUNNING A LITTLE ROUGH, SO I SAID LETS SERVICE IT & THAT SHOULD SORT IT OUT . SHE COULDN'T REMEMBER THE LAST SERVICE. UNFORTUNATLEY THE SERVICE HAS NOT REALLY MADE ANY DIFFERENCE , THE CAR ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE IT IS STRUGLING TO RUN ON ALL CYLINDERS, I REPLACED LEAD 4 LEAD AS NOT TO MIX UP . WOULD ANYBODY HAVE THE CORRECT ORDER THEY SHOULD BE IN , SO I CAN CHECK OR FAILING THAT ANY IDEAS PLEASE..!! MANY THANKS
ALSO SHOULD SAY THE STARTING IS NOT BRILLIANT HOT OR COLD !!

you dont say if the coil has been replaced- it could be this on its way out.

i understand the 1.4 is a 1 coil unit.

Are there any engine management lights or injector lights on there?

Are the coils exspensive ?

not sure, the usual place i would ring is closed at the mo, however as an indication on the stilo about £50, on the 1.8 brava between £45-£80, but these cars have 1 per cylinder whereas the 1.4 engine only has one.

shop for parts show it being £65 ish

Check the oil spray bar aswell notorious for getting blocked. Will eventually cause engine failure. Big 1.4 flaw.

poor startijg hot and cold, poor running, and its a 1.4, my money is on low compression due to worn camshaft, which is very common on the 1.4, they need oil changes much more regularly than the service schedule suggests. poorly serviced examples eat camshafts, no exceptions.
