Hi,

I have a Fiat Brava 1.2 2000 X Reg, only owned for 1 week. My problem is that I can go for about 12 miles with no problems, then all of a sudden when I come to a stop ie: junction, the car just stalls on me.

At the same time I noticed that the petrol gauge soared to full then slowly dropped back to fuel level in tank, then yesterday the same thing happened again but this time the fuel gauge went to empty then slowly back to normal.

Can anyone please advise what could be causing this, could it be the petrol cap ie: should it be pressurised or could it be that the fuel filter needs cleaning, the lady i bought the car off had just had a new exhaust fitted and the Lambda sensors done.

Any help would be appreciated before I go any further, or take to Fiat dealer.

first thing to try is the crankshaft position sensor.
