Hi all

I am probably going to sound like a completer doon brain!

But can anyone tell me where the thermostat on a 1.6ELX P Plate Brava is located, and are they fairly straight forward to change?

It should be in the thermostat housing on the right hand side of the engine (when you are standing in front of the car looking at the engine bay) follow the top hose from your radiator and it will be connected to the housing, and yes it is fairly easy to change depending on how handy you are with a few spanners. In the meantime I am off to learn how to spell "complete" and "doom" and while I'm at, I shall also try to find the plot as well!

i dont see any thermostat repair guide? if you could repair a thermostat how do you replace the wax and then seal it?

or do you mean you can replace the thermostat without replacing the housing?

when you order a new thermostat it will come without the housing unless the thermostat can not be removed from the housing. thats normal.

Yes, I meant you don't have to replace the whole thing, just the insert.

I found this old thread and I liked the sound of replacing the thermostat insert rather than the whole housing. I have removed and tested and verified that the thermostat insert doesn't work properly any more.

However, I'm now completely stumped about where to actually source a replacement? None of the usual web based parts distributors recognise the Mera TV-170 when I search for it. Has anyone successfully sourced a replacement insert for their Fiat 1.6 engine? Where did you buy it from?
