1.2 45500 miles flat spot when accelerate and irregular tick over all the time. no work done to it last serviced 3 months ago but problem was before then also it only just past emissions on last mot.

it happens all the time in every gear no matter what the rpm.

right, that sounds like constant hesitation and rough idle., so most likely a sensor fault. i would suggest you get a diagnostic done to read any fault codes stored in the ecu (£65 @ dealer).

once you have a good idea what the fault is come back to us and we'll try to make sure you can fix it as cheaply as possible.

similar prob myself..only minor....excellerating in each gear between 1000- 2500 is the flat spot, then near to the point the turbo kicks in and its fine!!! ( 1.9 TD 100 SX 99V..)
would taking off the NEG lead for 30 mins approx help to reset codes? thought this would be the first and easiest way???
ONE problem i only have two blue keys and NO red key. if i take off neg lead will i be able to start the car again?????(y)

no problem with not having red key.

disconnecting the battery will reset the ecu,m by that i mean it will lose all its learnt operating parameters. however this will not reset or remove and fault codes, you can only do that manually using the fiat examiner or similar. you will know when the fault is fixed because the car will start to work properly, there is no need to clear codes to get it work properly.

imo it sounds like you are describing turbo leg. if the injection system fault light is not coming on currently, you know the ecu is not registering any faults. the light only comes on when there is a fault occuring.

Yeah that flat spot is called owning a diesel :D

Don't be afraid of driving a Fiat diesel engine hard. Don't try to drive it so you just drop in the next gear at 1000rpm.. You get best efficiency when the turbo is forcing air into the engine. How long have you been driving the car?

Hey....Had the car only a week..Changed all filters/oil/air/fuel...oil change..
thought about glow plugs but been told on this forum that glow plugs just start the car not in use in the running of the car!! This might sound daft but how does the diesel burn if the plugs dont operate whilst engine runs? ( used to petrol cars.)

Stuck a load of diesel REDEX and gave it a good run...really suprised how throaty and keen the diesel engine is except the flat spot!! For under a grand im glad i chose this run about instead of the 306 meridien diesel..save me at least a grand!!!:slayer:

that aside i have previously run a leon cupra 20VT. 180. and a leon 20V non turbo before that and the non turbo car had this similar probem of a flat spot at 1-2500REVS.....
Problem cured with leon after cleaning the MAF and taking neg lead off as described on the SEAT forum...

Just wondering if the MAF cleaning on the BRAVO will help???

compression.

the diesel ignites when it is injected because the air in the cylinder has been compressed so much that it is hot enough to cause ignition. glow plugs are needed when starting because the engine is cold so the compressed air will not achieve the required temperature. once ignition is occuring the glow plugs can switch off and let compression take over.

its a completely different approach to a petrol engine.

btw, you have a JTD since your car is a V reg, very different to a TD. (you have a much better engine).

personally i dont think you have a problem, from your descripiton it soulds exactly like i would expoect the car to behave. you need to adapt your driving style to suit the diesel, its a completely different beast to your previous cars.

i would strongly recommend an ecu remap. you get excellent gains in power and torque. ;)
