Re: Where is the OBD-II connector??

If your car has an EOBD port it's under the drivers' seat. Move it all the way back and you'll see it at the front behind a black plastic panel.

Though if it's the 1998 version in your sig I'd have thought it would use the separate 3-pin connectors for each ECU, with the fuel inj connector being in the engine bay?

Re: Where is the OBD-II connector??

I am 100% sure no Barchetta older then 2000 has an OBD-II port

The 3 pin service port is in the engine bay, just behind the plastic panel on the firewall. If you are looking at the car its the last connector on the right side. I have been looking into this and you can make a 3pin -> OBD-II connecter.

Look around the Net and you will find some info on this. If I get round to doing this, I will post back my findings.

Spot on Doc!
I went down to a shop today to try out the Scan Gauge II that connects to any OBD-II port and gives a bunch of readings but no luck there. I just found all the 3 pin little connectors but no OBD-II. I found a site that indeed mentiones that barchettas with the HITACHI v.103 ECU only support it which are after y2000.
If you have a work around on this please let me know cause this is a HOT product we are missing out on!

Best Regards to all!

Re: Where is the OBD-II connector??

OBD Connector Pins 3 Pin Connect on car
Pin 5 - Signal Ground__________Black = signal ground (to ECU)
Pin 7 - K Line________________White = K line (to ECU)
Pin 4 - Chassis Ground________the remaining pin, although any good earth will do.
Pin 16 - Battery Power (+12v)________Direct to battery positive terminal.

Please click for link

Also this link

Hope this helps. I will look into it a bit more when I get a mo.

Re: Where is the OBD-II connector??

Could someone advise me, I have mk1 -97 b and I can only find 2 obd plugs, one under ps side airbag and one on engine bay behind abs unit, should there be third one near firewall, behind that plastic panel?

Re: Where is the OBD-II connector??

Ok, between the yellow relay and the yellow connector there is a grey connector that looks as though it is plugged into something...that is the OBD-II connector.

Unplug it from its dust cap and plug it in your diagnostic tool.

Re: Where is the OBD-II connector??

Don't know when the change over to OBD II happened but my B, built 09-00 still had the old style plugs and no OBD.

Re: Where is the OBD-II connector??

Thanks for replies!
I thought there would be 3 of those, ecu, abs, airbag..
but I'm pretty sure that my b has only two , that one plug on firewall is attached to another.

Luckily I don't have any probs with b, I'm just curious about that eobd(?) stuff..

3 old style Fiat system connectors on B's then that changed in 2000 to an OBD-II socket.

Am I right that no one has ever succeeded in actually finding a cable AND a software able to communicate with the older B's? I've been reading around the forum and it seems like the cable is ok, but no software is available the works...

Re: Where is the OBD-II connector??

You can use a Sykes Pickavant ACR4 if you're desperate. You need the reader, the correct cable and the correct pod. If you're lucky you can pick them up on ebay, but they aren't cheap when you add it all up.
