Does anyone know how to stop the radio coming on automatically every time the car is started? I want the default position to be OFF and I want to be able to turn on the radio manually via the UConnect if I decide to listen to it.

There is an "Auto-On Radio" option in the UConnect settings (with radio on, touch "Audio", scroll down to "Auto-On Radio", then choose "Off"), but it does not prevent the radio from coming on evert time the car starts. Any suggestions appreciated.

Seem to recall it is one of the defaults in section 6 of the settings you can access through the steering wheel controls and shows up in the central dial by the steering wheel

Thanks for the suggestion, but on my car section 5 (accessed via the steering wheel controls) has the "Audio" info and it just displays the radio band (eg DAB, FM) that is playing. There are no options for changing the radio settings which can be accessed via the steering wheel buttons. Maybe it is different in different markets. I am still stuck with the fact that the Auto-Radio On/Off function available through the UConnect screen (6.5" version) simply doesn't work.

Do you have the radio 'off' delay set to on? this will cause the radio to come on each time you start the car. I have set my 'off' delay to zero and the radio doesn't come on when I start the car.

Hi, i find that if the radio is on when I turn the ignition off, it comes on automatically when I next turn the ignition on.
If the radio is off before i turn the ignition off, either not had it on or turned off manually, the radio stays off when the ignition is next switched on.

My radio delay is set to zero. I don't mind the UConnect system coming on automatically, if fact it is good then I can receive phone calls via Bluetooth phone without having to remember to turn the system on. However, I just wish the radio wouldn't start playing at the same time. The dealer suggested a work around is to set Media input to a non-existent input (such as Aux or SD Card in my case) and just hit the Media button when the radio starts. I also tried removing the USB stick which has music on it but it makes no difference. I think Fiat is in need of a software update.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried both those scenarios but my UConnect system and radio start automatically even if they were off prior to turning off the ignition. The way your unit behaves seems logical to me and the way mine should work.

Hi Garry, I've just checked my radio and I went through the Radio / Audio / Auto On Radio / On - Off - Recall Last. route and got mine to do exactly what it says on the tin in whichever scenario it was set at.
A trip to the dealer maybe?
I've had my 500X CITY LOOK 1.6 MULTIJET 120HP LOUNGE for just over twelve months and the radio has worked this way from new.
Good luck in sorting it.

Hi Frank, I think I have the UConnect and radio sorted now. The Auto-On Radio does function as it supposed to. However, it would be better if there was an Auto-On function solely for the UConnect system that left the radio off. Then if you wanted to listen to the radio you could hit the Radio button, just like you do for the Nav, Media, Phone and Apps buttons.

I have Auto-on Radio set to "Recall Last" or "On" so UConnect and radio both come on when I start the car. That's the only way I can get UConnect to start automatically, but I immediately hit the Mute button behind the steering wheel to stop the radio. Having UConnect come on automatically suits me as my iPhone will then sync with UConnect so I can receive calls. I also have a USB stick loaded with music so if I hit the "Media" button the recorded music starts to play. Seems to work well ... fingers crossed!
Thanks for your help.

Is it possible that you were conflating turning the radio off with muting the radio? For awhile, I thought that my car was automatically turning on the radio at startup when I had left the radio off. But in actuality, I had never turn the radio off. I had only muted it. When the radio is off, the screen is black unless you are in reverse and the back up camera is active.
