The US trim options are a bit different from what is available in Europe. I have the Trekking Plus (Similar to Cross Plus) which for us is only available as an automatic.

Have you used the remote start yet,and how exactly does it work, does it turn on the heater to maximum etc to thaw out frozen windscreen.

Those are two different things actually. Remote start starts the car when you push the button twice. You can only push it so many times within 15 seconds so that you are not constantly restarting your car.

The cold weather mode is triggered if the car is started while the temperature is below about 36 F (3 C). This will automatically enable defrosters, seat warmers, steering wheel warmers, etc. It doesn't matter if the car is remote started or not for this feature. You will see a snowflake icon in the dash in this case.

Strange I already had the snowflake icon on screen and neither my defroster, fan or heated seats started automatically! Does it only auto on the auto?

It only does it at start. The snowflake icon can turn on later, while driving, if park in a warm garage for example. If that happens it wont enable the seat warmer, or other cold weather mode features.

Nope on both occasions the car had been parked up out in the open for 12 hour and when I pressed start button the snowflake icon was on immediately but no defrost, heater or seat warmers were activated. Where in the hand book did you read this function?

It appears, according to the manual, the feature is available only if you have remote start.

Remote Start Comfort Systems — If Equipped
When Remote Start is activated, the heated steering
wheel and driver heated seat features will automatically
turn on in cold weather. These features will stay on
through the duration of Remote Start or until the ignition
switch is cycled to the MAR/RUN position.
NOTE: The Remote Start Comfort System can be activated
and deactivated through the Uconnect® Settings. For more
information on Remote Start Comfort System operation,
refer to “Uconnect® Settings” in “Multimedia.”

However, it seems like it turns on even if you don't use remote start as long as the temperature is below a threshold.

While I can't find a specific reference to it, it does appear remote start is not legal in the UK. So I suppose the comfort system being tied to remote start is not available either.

Not sure why they would make one dependent on the other, as they could operate independently.
